Acceptance
Nothing is going to get better until you quit drinking. It just won't.
Go to a Dr. If you don't want to go to yours, go to a Med+ urgent care place and tell them you are detoxing for chronic alcohol abuse. They will probably prescribe something that will make it safer for you to detox. Or go to the ER and just tell them the truth. These professionals have seen much worse than you and they will know what to do.
And then start doing something about your problem. Try AA. Try SMART. Try RR and AVRT. These all require that you do something about your problem and they all work for some people. Find what works best for you.
I know you can do this, even if you don't. Life doesn't have to feel so bad. It is so much better sober.
Peace.

I've paced it out fairly well but I am not sober yet. I've met wit the house painter---have no idea what he thought. My six year old this AM said right to my face "daddy's drinking again." I basically feel like death warmed over.

I have to add that my acceptance has involved realizing there is absolutley no fun or joy left in this. Even if we debate the disease concept, there is nothing about my drinking now that is healthy.

OK...Sounds like you have the problem nailed down pretty good. Now it's time to start working on the solution to solve it. Take your pick. And get busy!
Its funny you posted about "acceptance". My daily reading this morning was page 449 in the Big Book. Its all about acceptance. O love how thinkgs fit together.
Good luck and get to a meeting. :ghug3

Long story so I'll keep it short: my struggles landed me into a big hulk of a relapse and now, utter acceptance. Just got out of hospital detox. No infinitesimal shred of a doubt lurks: I am powerless over alcohol and I have just missed by a thread ruining my life. I'm still hearing tiny radio music in the eery distance but solid enough. Heading to one of my home AA bases tonight. Going to go the whole hog with AA and see where that gets me. ANd SR too. I NEED to be around people who have had these experiences.
edit: an added fright: was seeing one of the "old-timers" from my meetings walk into the unit about my second day there. It really never ends.

He might have been 12th stepping somebody...Helping someone out?...Anyway...Give it good honest effort oinobares...You sound like you might be .....DONE!
Maybe you needed that one last scare to convince you. I know I was a slow learner - but I finally got it. We know you can make it back to the land of the living. Talking about what happened is a huge step - you sound ready to do this. We know you can.
