I'm glad you're making some positive changes Sleepie - but I hope you get your sleeping problems fixed - klonopin and booze is just not good for anyone.

Good luck with your interview

I want more beer now. I am scared of the interview and the OCD monster that's rearing it's head.

You can't be drunk from now to Friday sleepie - and if you can, you'll wreck for your chances for the interview...

I know it's an anxious time - I hate interviews too - but drinking over it would not help, IMO.

I hope you can shout down the little voice.

Oh I know- I have to go back to work tomorrow so overdoing it is not an option. I can't shut down the voice... It's incessant. I have to go to work to get my paycheck... dangerous. Maybe I will get more movies to distract me, although it has not quite been working. Maybe I'll buy a healthy juice... Has anyone seen "The Picnic at Hanging Rock"? Beautiful film. Great score. I quite like the director I think I will pick up another by him.

Just pick the month you got sober Hud

Hanging Rock is a classic

Most of Peter Weirs other Australian films are in the more mainstream horror/suspense genre, but I really like his work Sleepie

The Films of Peter Weir

Fingers crossed. I found out that there is a recovery support group meeting near my house that meets every tuesday night. I just found out about it this morning so I am going to check it out. I have my fingers crossed that I will love it and finally find a sponsor.
Good luck everyone

Understated, Congratulations on 1 week sober!

Scared1, Good luck with the meeting. I hope it works out for you.

Sleepie, try some meditation or breathing exercises to help you get through the interview and I hope it goes well.

ArtDeco, I'm glad you enjoyed your visit with your grand-daughter and friend.

Hudstar, Welcome to the January thread.

Cool Dee- I have also " The Last Wave" as well for tonight as well. I had no idea he was so mainstream. I love movies from the 70's.

So, it is day 4 for me after drinking everyday for the past 10 years. For the past 6 months, I thought tapering from Vodka to wine was a way to do it. It did not work. In October, I was found passed out on someones lawn by our local fire department after midnight in 45 degree weather and escorted 2 blocks to my front door where my wife greeted me in shock. Fireman said I could have easily gotten hypothermia. I've hid my drinking pretty well up until about a year ago. My biggest fear in quiting was the DT's as I was drinking between 8-10 drinks a night for almost a year and drinking heavily for 10 years. However, the only problem I had was yesterday when I woke feeling hung over, had anxiety and knots in my stomach, and was pretty irritable. However, today I woke up feeling totally fine. My trigger to drink has been based on when I finish work...5-6pm. What I'm doing is planning evening errands/meeting with friends who don't drink after I get home that keep me busy until after 9pm. So far so good!

Hey two more people were shot merely blocks away from where I live- as a matter of fact right in the parking lot of the Subway sandwich shop I went to after I decided to walk a bit in my neighborhood. Nothing like a good healthy walk! Only one person was killed this time- the other merely injured. Shootings happen quite often here however I have decided it's better to live and die than stagnate! Wish me luck!

hi everyone, day 5 for me^: again a bad night of sleep, mostly due to the wind rocking the boat! Another storm passing by.... but I am calm, another 2 days and I've done a week!!! Fantastic! Also, smoking way less sigarettes then before (last 3 months was out of control). I'm not drinking coffee anymore or juices. Just my morning tea and water all day. Sounds boring but managable actually-for me.

@sleepie: exciting neighbourhood! Nothing like that happens here but focus on positive things in your life!

there was another new member from class of November, we started on the same day. Maybe he quit also because he's not in topics anymore, shame.
I'm sticking around this time! Ta Ta

Good job everyone!
Sleepie, be careful. Sounds like you live in a rough area.

Nice to see the motivation so high with the turning of the year. Tomorrow will be coming up on 21 days for me but the weather is so bad that I've been stuck in the house and I'm getting cabin fever. I have to get out tomorrow and do something, even if it's just going for a walk.

Let's all hold each other's virtual hands in support of sobriety for 2011. Nice to know there are others out there going what I'm going through and offering words of support to all of us here at SR.

Berkshire, planning your early evenings is a great idea. I did the same thing because that was a trigger time for me. I started going for long walks after supper and it helped me in so many ways.

Congratulations on Day 5 Chebella!

Catfisher, it's cold and wintery here too, but it always feels so good to get outside and move around. Good for you on 21 days!

I guess Im part of the class of January 2011. Thing is....this wasnt a New YEars Resolution. I really didnt even think about it being the first of the Year LOL! Something clicked and I knew I had done to much. I will say its nice not feeling so sick and tired in the mornings and being alert for work. Waking up in the night sucks but that is a small price to pay really.
