Class of November 2022 Part One
Joey from Friends. That's sort of his catch phrase.
And guess what! We were expecting a guest tomorrow, but there has been some kind of misunderstanding, so she was suddenly standing outside our house tonight! My goodness, had this been three days ago we would be half way down the second bottle of bubbles, unable to make a good impression, but tonight we could open the door and welcome her with open arms. Phew! I'm liking this sober life.

Thanks Venus! Appreciate it! I’m going to make this attempt stick!
Thanks to all for welcoming me in.
I actually have 3 dogs too! A basset, a golden retriever, and a shih-tzu.
Having a bit of a rough day. Typical withdrawal stuff (headache, stomach ache, anxiety, pretty grumpy). I’ve got a prescription anxiety medication that should hopefully help me sleep (knock on wood).
Took the kids to a park after school today and ran some errands. It was great not to do those things drunk.
Good night all

Good morning all. Day 33 here. Recalibrating thought processes that don’t include picking up or taking mood altering substances. As Dee rightly asks all of us that struggle, relapse then come back …what is your long term plan to do different this time? Wishing to be sober is one thing. It is taking action that really makes it so. I will take the actions necessary to make it so.

Nearly 40 days here.
Ive got to the point where Im not thinking about booze too much, but I always seem to fall into the trap of my other addictions creeping back in like caffeine, food, shopping, gambling etc.. which can also be quite destructive for me. It's so frustrating to have these unhealthy compulsions. Im trying my best to eat more healthy, exercise, get on top of work which Ive been neglecting. Im also worrying all the time about money and finances. Im in a bit of debt which if I could clear I would feel so much better.
Everything is so hard.

Happy to see so many getting a great jump on November! We got this!
Beginning day 25. Feeling good. More at peace than 25 days ago.

RunnerF, keep that ball rolling!
Tetrax, Rock on!
Erratic, Well done!
BassetDog, Hope the withdraws are better.
Splash, Keeping cats happy is a near-impossible task. Good luck with that
Peke, Lixie keep trying, you will get and stay sober.
Mysteryman, cross addiction is common in recovery. I have a few issues to treat at the same I recover from addiction. It is tough. No easy answers sometimes, unfortunately.
Bobbieka, Great quote! Soooooooo true!
Up and rolling around, my body sore but mentally sharp as a billy club...LOL.
I laugh at myself constantly. Every problem starts with a simple beginning solution.

Thank you for being here with me. Alone we can't, together we can.

I’m just checking in and committing to not drinking today. I slept ok last night (thanks to my meds) but had some weird dreams. Felt great to not be hungover though
Once I’m done with work, I plan to attend an online SMART meeting and also plan to play some video games with my son and start the new Stephen King book I purchased. I think I fell off wagon (in part) this last time as I didn’t find enough time to do things I enjoy. It may seem obvious, but finding the time to engage in some joyful and distracting hobbies is one of the keys to breaking the alcohol cycle.
Hope everyone has a great day! Keep up the good work team.

Hey all!
Bobbie--fantastic quote, thank you!
Zen-you too, I love the alone we can't, together we can
Mystery--nearly 40 is great, everything IS hard, but it's harder with booze in the mix, for sure.
Splash-I'm on day 3 as well after my slip/lapse/return to madness last week, good on you for 3.
Tetrax-happy to hear about your progress, and uncomplicated sleep is just the best.
Welcome RunnerF.
Erratic-hope you feel better!
So, yeah I'm back to being productive, and not ruled by booze, thank god. I don't want to look back and figure out how many days I would have had without the slip, I will just look forward.
