We watched that a couple of weeks ago V. It was a good crime movie, but yes, the premise is disturbing. There were no nice people in the movie at all!

Hi Icandothis! You come and hopefully try to get sober, and as a group, we’re all in a similar stage of sobriety together. It might help to read and chat as we figure it out together and separately.

Morning all

I hope you get your dental work done soon Venus and at least can manage the pain till then.

Hi Lixie-how are you?

Welcome ICDT

Day 2. Well middle of the night/morning 2 really. Got some sleep but woke at 4am. Might as well just get up. The thoughts though, you know that feeling on waking of sheer and utter relief that I didn't drink last night. That's priceless.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all. Yes, it’s always good to wake up sober and hangover free. It seems so simple, right? Crazy what addiction causes us to do to ourselves.

RAL, good to see you. Hope you get a better sleep tonight.

Big adventure today, driving son to the dentist. He hasn’t been since before covid. They were closed for a long time, then we just forgot about it. We’re headed into warmer weather this week. Yay!!!

The past 4 days have been a total train wreck of drinking beer. I am so uncomfortable with myself at the moment. I really have no idea what to do differently. But I cannot keep up with how things have been going. I wish I could hibernate for a bit. My husband and I are going to have to have a major conversation tonight. Why in earth does my head ever think it is imperative that I drink? So sad and frustrated.

Love to all. ❤

Because it gets encoded in our mid-brains....we NEED aIcohoI. That's what I beIieve. That is what happens to us.
And we get triggered and that "need" gets aIerted and we are off to the races.....

But we can change these responses. We can. But we have to put things in pIace that heIp us.
Such as sending your husband and his beer back to the garage dear Citrus.
It is nice weather now.

We need to reinforce the things in ourseIves that we Iove....for you....you craft work and knitting and amazing baking.....gosh you couId have your own business honey....and the more we persue those things, the more we Iisten to the good woIf, the Iess the need to drink dominates us. And as we buiId sober time, that need/desire dissipates untiI it is no Ionger a voice in our heads at aII. s xx ❤️

Jumping in as I finish day 2.

Feeling good, actually. I mean, I can only fail SO MANY TIMES before I figure it out.

Right?

I really have no idea what to do differently.
I forget - apart from posting here what have you tried Citrus?
Maybe its time to look beyond SR for some extra help, maybe?

Morning all

Hi Phoebe, yes much better night's sleep thanks. Hope your son got on ok at the dentist. How are you doing?

Good to see you Citrus I know how hard it is being in that place. But we can get out of it. Hope you are able to make today your day 1. I used SMART meetings last time which were fabulous and helped me stay sober. Then I stopped going to them and the result was inevitable. Back to them for me now, Maybe give them a try. Or AA if yo prefer AA. Or both. I'm not a people person and the 1 good thing about this pandemic is the sudden huge availability in zoom meetings

Hi Five Good to see you again.

Went to work yesterday and tired myself out. By 7pm I was falling asleep. Bed followed soon after and slept for 11 hours. Miracle. Onto Day 3. Again the feeling of relief when I wake that I didn't drink last night is worth more than any quick high wine gives me.

Take care all and have a good day
RAL

I’m okay, RAL, thanks for asking. Kinda flat, lonely. I miss my daughter(off on her own since January) and am tired of winter. But, gorgeous weather here, starting today. I hope some more outdoor time and sunshine help lift my mood. Great on 3 days, you should be feeling better and better, now.

Citrus. 💕 It’s really really hard living with a very active drinker. I find it very difficult. A untitled front against the beast would be so helpful.

Hi Venus, hope your Tuesday is going well

Sorry to hear you're feeling flat Phoebe and missing your daughter. Are you in lockdown where you are? It's awful here, can't do anything or see anyone.

Citrus-I got sober many years ago living with my then husband who was a heavy drinker. It can be done-you can do this

Been a decent day but the weather has turned now and is pretty awful. oh well nearly half way through March Day 3 coming to a close and feeling much better.
