One Year & Over Part 64
Feel free to 'bomb' anytime CW! I doubt anyone here takes their sobriety for granted, I sure don't, it's why I'm here every day bolstering it. I too recall those early days in the Undies, looking at the Overs with awe and disbelief.
Have a good dat, Overs.
Hard to believe it's been 100 years since the end of WWI.
This is a photo of my Grandpa, Alfred Haney, in his U.S. Army uniform. Alfred served with the 4th Division Ammunition Train in France during World War I (1918). He made it home safely. Many of his comrades did not.

I'm randomly going to post here because a long, long time ago, when I first visited SR, I was so 'envious'...or rather in awe that there was a 1 year and over thread. It seemed so unattainable to me, to reach that exclusive 'club'.
30 days seemed insurmountable.
Now at just over 3 and a half years sober (can't even believe that's me writing that), I still get a kick to see there's a 1 year and over thread. Please don't ever forget what a blessing that is, even though it seems a small thing. That time is hard won...those first 12 months. A gift.
Anyway, I 'bombed' the thread, but I have never gotten round to posting in the thread that I felt was so unattainable! :P

My favourite thing about this thread is our gratitude.....every single one of us feels it and shares it....and we have been friends for a long time now, so there is that too.
Love to all of the Overs. ♥
Morning overs
My washing machine packed in a few days ago, so I have new one coming today! Yaay! Can’t be without a washer!. I noticed these new washers have an allergy wash!, can’t wait to know what that’s about?
......I remember my Nannan had one with a wind handle on the ringer. I was amazed how, when she put bed sheets through the ringer and they came out like they were pressed. Cool.
I really think, for me, the best inventions (barring any great medical ones) is the World wide web (it got me here!) and the Smartphone. I’m sure there’s lots more but for now the internet and smart phone.
Have a wonderful Monday my friends. I may be going to the cinema again with my friend (she’s off sick with stress) , it’s half price Monday!

Hello to all of you. As usual it’s been a while since I last chirped in my 2 bits .
I sit here in Maui tonight. We have had a great two weeks enjoying the heat and beaches and fish tacos.
November 12, tomorrow, is my five year mark of sobriety. Whew, that went by quick. Not always easy, but certainly quick. My dear wife of 37 years is aware of this group and my visits. I asked her five years ago to please respect my privacy regarding SR. This was only for me to talk to others that are on the same train. I need her for the rest of my recovery. She has never seen any of my ramblings. Only you great people have. But I will thank her here anyway. Thank you sweetheart, for your love, your patience and trying to understand. Thank you for always believing in me. Thank you to my three great kids and their spouses and thank you for giving me four little grandsons and one more on the way. You are the reason I am at this little milestone.
I want to thank all of you for your kind words and encouragement over this time.
SR is a no ******** forum supported by people that will tell you what is what, Not what you want to hear. It sure helped me. Thank you.
As usual, I go on and on. I will wrap it up with this:
I never take my sobriety for granted. It’s like crossing a busy street. You always have to aware and look both ways. Always..
I am fine, my life is fine and I promise I won’t drink tomorrow.
Love to you all.
I will be back
Rick
