One Year & Over Part 55
Today marks 101 months sober. Got some great news yesterday as I've been asked to be a guest on a popular recovery podcast and to share my story. Not sure when it'll happen, probably not until after the new year. I'll keep ya'll posted.
Getting ready to hit the road. The car is running fine this year. I've got about 95,000 miles on it, but it's a Toyota, so it's all good. Mom is thriving in assisted living. In many ways, she's doing even better now than when my Dad was around. Her mind is still very sharp and she's made lots of new friends. Couldn't ask for a better situation for her.
Hope all of you overs have a wonderful Thanksgiving (or just a plain old Thunderous Thursday for my non-American friends). You all have been a very important part of my recovery these past 8+ years.

Not much from me today. Doing everything I can- or know how to do- to heal and get peace. BUT the sense of dread, anxiety is always there. Hopefully time and patience will cure this- a little. I suppose after fighting a 6 day migraine, I am allowed to feel a little self centred in misery. Just a little.
My bike is hard work. Not the riding- but all the loonies in city traffic.
Off to a meeting soon.

Yes, I believe time and all of the incredibly hard work you are doing will help you to heal and find that peace.
I really do.
PS....Adelaide traffic? Have you been to Melbourne? Lordy....it's a complete nightmare these days. I DO NOT miss that one bit.
8 Years Today
Hopefully, some of you reading this will find some strength and hope in seeing that someone else can enjoy a sober life. Eight years ago, I needed that hope and found it here. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Suze- it is not the amount of traffic in our little city...it is how those on the road behave. Definitely defensive cycling.
Itch- gratitude? Yes- for life and hope.
Congrats FBL. I will do everything in my power to make today thunderous.

Some of us really really deserve a special day tomorrow....OK, all of us.....but but what if it's your birthday as well? And you just celebrated another awesome milestone....and it's Thanksgiving.....so just wow.
That would have to be God right? I think so.
Something very special for someone who truly deserves it.
Gilmer love ~ I hope you have the most beautiful belly-button birthday ever this year.
Love you very much. ♥

BBR,
Congrats on the eight years! WooHoo! You and FBL are about even. I am one year behind you both.
FBL,
Hope your drive went well. It is great to have a place for your Mom that suits her to a T.
Sassy, how are you spending Thanksgiving.?
Suze, you guys talk about how bad the traffic is in OZ? It would be a lot easier if they drove on the right side of the road to begin with.
We are having our first Christmas tree since the last of our parents left in early December last year in 2016. We skipped it lkast year but are ready to move on. Decorating today and tomorrow.
This year we are doing Cornish Rock game hens instead of a Turkey. And for the first time my son and one of his daughters will share the feast. MY wife and southern friends have learned that I have apple, not plumpkin pie, and it must be served hot with a slice or two of sharp cheddar melted over the top. My SH likes plumpkin pie and ice cream on the side a la mode. I am not a big fan of sugary pecan pie but a bite is enough.
I don't guess I am going to make much headway with my weight loss plan until the first of 2018.

Thanks you guys!
I’m not going to make much progress with my weight loss plan, either! There are 21 people here who all just pigged out on steak, hot dogs, broccoli, spinach salad, and baked potatoes.
In the past, my husband’s sister typically provided the Wednesday night meal: spicy Indian venison stew. I was disappointed that she won’t be able to come till tomorrow—but she actually went out of her way to send a bit up in a crockpot, which my oldest son and I ate over our baked potatoes. So spicy! Halfway through we had to break out the sour cream!
I’m so stuffed I feel (and probably look) like Buddha!

Morning overs
Serene, I really love and admire your attitude. Love to you, your husband and your baby.
Fbl, have a great time with your mum. And big congratulations on 101 months sober!
Gilmer, that’s sounds quite a scrumptious meal!
Have a good Thursday overs. Happy thanksgiving over the pond.

Happy bdays Gilly.
I do not think our traffic is worse- only that a lot of them are stupid.
Well, yesterday I bought a bike, first one in 30y.
Today I went for a longish ride, with a buddy..first time in 30y.
Fell off my bike, landing heavily on my crap knee-first time....
