adoptee here. Was so feeling dull and unmotivated this morning. What was more bad- was feeling crap at being in a rut. So I dragged my pitiful arse out- got a 'boy' haircut, a boy-barber- let them decide what to do- a bit like Gibbs from NCIS), then got my fluvax injection 92 dead already, 50% increase, one major hospital moving sites in the next few months- not going to be a waiting room fixture), then spent a long time in supermarket studying labels - for salt/sugar/blah...and meat. Bought chai tea, nice coffee and candles (Adelaide+ winter= blackouts). Wandered about for about 3-1/2 hours so tired. Plus arty stuff nd writing and recovery CBT homework. All for now.

Congrats Sass!

Phoenix, good for you to get yourself out of a rut - it can be hard to do. I didn't want to get out of bed today, it's been raining for several days and it's just depressing, but I made myself hit the gym and feel much better. If it wasn't for the dogs, tho, I might not have gotten out of bed at all. So thankful for them.

I have good days and bad days but I'm fighting through it.

How's everyone else doing?

((((Duff))))

((((PJ))). Successfully dispatching daily duties is a much bigger deal than I used to think. It gives a real sense of satisfaction to be functional.

Wellll, Gilly- appearing to be functional anyhows. Tomorrow- bloods (could not today- gasman changing meter- so ate b-fast), then bloody new phone- glitches, the service centre staff could not even get voicemail working- had to be done by Mrs Phillipines. Same again tomorrow for texts- not working.
Then big walkies- probably art-g as well. Then counselling ( 2/week),

Thanks! Two more months to 3 years :-)

Duff, sorry you are going through a rough patch

PJ, it sounds like you got moving in spite of feeling "dull and unmotivated" and that's good!

HA! I always feel fatigued and in pain, but now have had a fluvax- was warned I would feel unwell- a super fluvax, this year's influenza has already killed in my little city. Part of feeling unwell is feeling tired. So me+ fluvax+ usual fatigue/pail + unwell + tired = MISERABLE.
So I expect the entire world to fell sorry for me- manful symptoms.

Poor PJ! My best friend Dolly always has a bad reaction to the flu jab, yet still believes it's better than getting the flu. At 90 yo who am I to argue? Sounds like it is a bad strain this year in your neck of the woods though.
It's good you are forcing yourself to motivate.

You too Duff, doing even something small on those bad days is good. I agree about the dogs being a motivator. Also when my exh was being a complete basket during our divorce, I found the gym a great way to expend some of my angry, negative energy. A positive result was losing around 20kg! ( put it all back on over time with the present Mr T, though lost it again since quitting drinking!)

Congratulations Sassy! These months and years do mount up don't they!

Hey Gilmer, how's it going? Xx

I'm doing well. I've begun exercising, too--ever so slightly for now, but it's a genuine beginning.

My current class, Greek II, is really kicking my butt--and not in an invigorating challenge kind of way.

Greek I had some memorization, but each chapter was a manageable chunk.

Greek I was about nouns, adjectives, and pronouns.

Greek II is all verbs. Many different types and permutations of them, plus a hundred different roots and endings to memorize.

Last time the vocabulary was relatively easy to pick up; now the words have 5, 6, 7 syllables! In three weeks I've been bombarded with 10 different verb types Plus all the grammatical baggage that goes along with them!

And as soon as I get stuff memorized for a quiz and move on, the original stuff flies out of my brain so that it's completely foreign to me again! ("foreign"--ha ha!).

But it will all come together in the end--at least that's what the textbook author says. Plus, it is definitely worthwhile--I can already read large sections of Mark and John in the Greek New Testament. So there's encouragement at the end of the tunnel.

Other than that, things are fine. Nothing new.

Kind of thought you were feeling a little frustrated Gilly, remember mindful breathing crap- and take in small digestible chunks....
Hint- a verb is za doing word. That's all I got.

Yeah--me and "action words" have never really gotten along!

But thanks to recovery, I function much more normally!

Hope you feel better soon, PJ.

Sorry your feeling so terrible PJ and hope you start feeling better soon.

Gilmer, you continue to impress me with your studies! Our resident scholar.

Toots, how is your holiday going? Not doing too much work on the house I hope and getting some R&R in?

Sass, how are you doing? Is it starting to feel like summer up there yet? I love Maine in the summer.

Babs, how are you doing?

My boys come home tomorrow so I will be feeling much better soon enough

Ha, ha--do you know what my high school guidance counselor used to say to me?

"Kathy, Kathy, Kathy. How can somebody so intelligent be so dumb?"

I'm glad your boys are coming home, Duff.
