That's wonderful, Babs!

And I bet he really enjoyed that time, too. Plus he got a great new grill out of the deal!

Hope you guys continue to have a lot of future good neighborly chats!

Maybe he'll invite you over sometime for a cookout!

Yes Gilmer they are the best neighbors. They have a pool and have invited us over many times. There were times I didn't go cause I was tooooo intoxicated to go. and after awhile when you don't go they stop asking. But, they are very nice people and would never hurt your feelings.

That's great, Babs! I think that focusing on the positives of staying sober helps reinforce our determination to stay this way.

I'm thinking of you too, Toots. Your family is so blessed that you are able to be there for them at this time. And also that Mr. Toots is so supportive of what you need to do. I'm sure he's missing you tons as well.

Hoep everyone has a great weekend!

HI there PhoenixJ !
I'm at the lakes---and some things never change.
I'm with a good bunch of people even tho most of them still
drink more than they should. But, I guess that isn't my business . I'm just
going to worry about myself. and I'm doing just fine.
Have a good eve. everyone !

Babs- you could always make it your business. Like a hawker. After all- do we not, as reformed alcoholics, have a want- nay an OBLIGATION to educate these poor, corrupted souls on the evils inherent in the demon drink?

Sing! Sing!

HO! SOUND THE TOCSIN, SHOUT ALOUD- HURRAH!

(bible temperance hymn, John Church- Cincinnati- 1878).

nah- just go get another coffee.

Tocsin sounds like a heavy metal band.

nOW YOU HAVE MENTIONED HEAVY METAL,g. oN THE WAY TO THE MARKET TO BUY 7KG OF MEAT (CHICKEN, PORK, BEEF) TO cook (caps lock) about 30 meals- freeze, I saw a poster for a metal event. Newbie bands. Most likely middle class kids who dream the rebel bit by parking in a disabled car space. I was attracted 'cos one was called I-Icarus' Some thought went into that name (perhaps). Metal can be a challenging and defining medium for people to express their dissatisfaction of societal norms. Not all drug dealers and Satan worshippers. Icarus- was my first username @ SR- one I chose with much care. So I started to read some of the other band's names on the poster. What did their names mean? Are they telling a story?

The first name of a band I read was
'Seminal Enbalmers'. I think I kind of now what that means and the story.
They are probably sad 40 year old virgins- who still live with mum. Who perhaps think this confronting and in your face name will make them metal gods.- perhaps. Better than the 'Creepy Weirds', I suppose.
I did not read any more after that...

ALSO - putting things on t-shirts..A staffie dropped by (duty of care- still in a recovery owned, although independent units). sHE KEPT LOOKING AT MY CHEST- WHICH WAS A LITTLE ODD- I AM NO ADONIS, ESPECIALLY SINCE HALF MY CHEST HAS BEEN FRIED TO AND INCLUDING THE BONE, MISSHAPEN. caps lock.

Then she started laughing- lots in a that's funny way. Forgotten I had my fav. long sleeve art t-shirt on. The grotty get paint on it one. It has a hole in it, the diameter of a ball point. I have lovingly put surgical tape (micropore, stays longer than iron on patches) on the inside of the t-shirt and then coloured the tape black. Keep falling out. tRIED PATCHES- KEPT FALLING OFF. nOT WORTH HAND STITCHING. I TOOK THE MALE WAY- I PAINTED THE WORD 'HOLE' WITH AN ARROW POINTING TO THE HOLE on the tee shirt. Problem solved.bloody caps lock, my brain is still rewiring from burns. My affected hand sometines does not what the brain thinks.
