I Will Not Drink/Use Today Part 3
Since it is the start of a new year, I thought I would share my fav thought for the day...taken from the book, "24 Hours A Day". The passage below is one that I read quite often and is the January 6th thought. It became very important to me from the early days of my recovery....and, two years ago, on January 6th, my first granddaughter was born. Very cool!
"Keeping sober is the most important thing in my life. The most important decision I ever made was my decision to give up drinking. I am convinced that my whole life depends on not taking that first drink. Nothing in the world is as important to me as my own sobriety. Everything I have, my whole life, depends on that one thing. Can I afford ever to forget this, even for one minute?"
Nope, no plans to drink/use today.
Happy Clean & Sober New Year, all.

Courage, I also had to do a mood adjustment. Husband has been nauseous since Thanksgiving, had to remember he's not choosing this...........keep my resentment in focus, concentrate on being active and SOBER!

It shows maturity and real growth to rise above your natural instincts. That's what sobriety does for you!
I could never in a billion years have executed good hospitality and not been bitter if I were still drinking.

The major guests are all gone--beer and champagne are all gone.
Now I'm sitting quietly with a cup of coffee and my beloved SR.
My second son is still here, but he's quiet. Right now he's off taking a bath; later we plan to watch some episodes of "The Grand Tour" on Netflix.
One nice thing about the special guest this weekend as opposed to some others: even though I was fully OK with his bringing Guinness, he still offered to forego it when I mentioned I used to have a drinking problem--he was genuinely concerned about "making me stumble."
Others have not been so considerate--one guy in particular couldn't go one full day without beer, I'm sure, and he's rather defiant about drinking it wherever he goes.
I don't go near him--not because he tempts me, but because he ticks me off!
But this other guest was considerate, so I felt very magnanimous about his drinking. And I think he only had two beers during the entire visit.
A great time and a sober triumph for me and my adaptability.
Now I'm quietly winding down.
Life is so much richer and more interesting when you're sober!

Agreed...so I'm sticking to the plan...no drinkin'/druggin' for me today.
Gym class in an hour, some shopping for a Whole 30 that I am about to embark upon followed by my Home Group AA mtg tonight. Nice day planned.
Have a nice day, all.
