Continuing my current obsession, this is an image of a kourotropho (Greek). A kourotrophos is a "child nurturer,” a god or goddess who protects children & young people.

Etruscan pendant, amber, about 130 mm or 5 inches tall, 600-550 B.C.

Sometimes we need protection, and sometimes we need to offer it to others. I’ll see you here tomorrow, I hope!

Monday August 3rd... 2015.... 3 days to State Fair and fun for 11 days of Moo Cluck and music.. so looking forward to it.. I turn 65 tomorrow... its been a tough haul this year.. Iam in for another 24...

I'm enjoying the Greek/Art History subject, courage! I took intro to Greek and intro to art history in college and am loving the information. Some is familiar some is new info!! :-) thanks!!!

I made the mistake of Googling "child/mother" Aztec images. Too. Early.

I was going to find something lovely for C2, but damn you Google. I wasn't looking for actual births portrayed in sculpture.

Congrats on 18 months, C2!

Here's some homemade blackberry ice cream instead. I have bags in my freezer of wild blackberries I picked . Summer. mmmmm.
