MLD I'm with ya on needing sleep. Glorious sleep. Feels strange sometimes that I HAVE To go to bed while the mrs will stay up with her wine. I guess I used to stay awake till I drank everything or passed out or had my share of booze then not much else to do...
I do wake up early though. And jeez no hangover!!!
MLD makes bagels tosses em up the air and shoots the hole out. Perfect every time.

This is one of my shot patterns from my trip to the gun range last week. This was a .44 Ruger Carbine rifle, open sights. My first time firing one - 5 shots. Not too shabby. Watch out, bagels!!

It just occurred to me that I might appear to be bragging. Not my intention. I've spent so much of my life feeling I wasn't good at things. In sobriety I'm trying to find things I feel I've accomplished - to help boost my crappy self-esteem. That's all.

BigShoe, I love hearing about your kitty. Warms my heart. He sounds like a real trooper.
I called into work this morning. Waaaay too much snow coming down here. It's pretty. Hopefully it will improve my mood. Drinking dreams and cravings got me all discombobulated this morning.

For me, chedder cheese spread on my bagels. I like the ones with all the seeds..yummy!
Aww Bigshoe, give kitty a good rubbing from me! We had to put our baby down last month, so freakin Hard. Miss him everyday.

Mld I don't find you a bragged at all...you should be proud of your accomplishments..I have very low self esteem and when we find something to feel good about we should embrace it!

Tonks - I'm not sure. I think so. We didn't have any binoculars or scopes so I don't know. That was such a sweet gun. Wasn't sure I could actually shoot anything other than an M-16 - that was the first time in about 15 years I've fired a rifle at a range.

I like a bagel toasted with melted cheddar cheese.
Day 76. Woke up to have a cup of Peet's coffee and play with my kids. I have the day off to go hiking with them while Mom takes a much needed break. This afternoon we'll watch a movie together. Play guitar and sing. Go to the park and run up and down the empty bocci ball courts that the old Italian men used to play on. Simple pleasures day.
I went to Golden Gate park yesterday. The weather was 80 degrees. The place was more crowded than I have ever seen it (San Francisco traffic has been insane the last five years). I watched a couple of guys emerge from a corner store on a street that runs along the park. Each had a six pack of craft beer under his arm, heading to the park. I didn't miss it at all. In fact, I got that premonition of how it would feel yucky to drink. How I was far better off without it- how much more enjoyable the afternoon would be with coffee and my family. We walked around Stowe Lake and fed the semi domesticated waterfowl. We laid out in the grass on a hill in the sun. Watched people from all over the world pass by. My daughter and I found a sax player playing in a tunnel and heard Coltrane reverberate through the concrete.
All simple things simply experienced. Without alcohol. And all the BETTER without alcohol.
