We are all rooting for you Enfin:You_Rock

Think about where your plan went wrong last time. Getting sober takes a good plan and working at it. You are doing it for you ... be single-minded about it. If someone tries to derail your plan ditch them for now. You can always make up later when you are on a better path.

Sorry for sounding so preachy but getting sober is what you need to concentrate on in order to succeed.

How are you doing EnFin?

Have your plan in place for a sober weekend?

I am going to get some outside chores done before the really cold weather sets in next week. Hot tea sounds right to get me through it.

Sorry for the long delay in replying!

Yes I have been sober since the evening of March 6, 2014. It is an epic struggle for a while but gets gradually easier.

The way I see it is you have to be tactical and selfish during the first period of time, maybe three months or so. The cravings are intense and the posibility for failure are high. You have to drive the process and limit the opportunities for failure during that time including limiting or eliminating contact with hard drinking friends and hard drinking situations.

Keep yourself very busy and the hard times seem to pass more quickly.

We are rooting for your success!

Forgot to ask how the birthday party went?

Keep working on sobriety. Counter-intuitively it makes events like that so much more fun. In the past I had a big planning job to do to make sure my supply of alcohol was secure and available before attending events. Now I just show up and enjoy. No more sneaking off to the garage or basement or car to get drinks.

Have a great and sober weekend!

Great job on the sober weekend! Keep on the path.

I remember those parties with my daughter! Like getting your teeth drilled at the time but now looked back on with fondness.

How are you doing Enfin? Hope your New Year was fun and interesting.

Same to all. Bimini, Aarry, well you all know who you are! Am I jumping the gun to say we are fast approaching our 2 year anniversary?

Spring is coming, better get my skiing in before all the snow melts.

Still here, still trying! Didn't make it without any drink at Xmas. .. pointlessly had a few, not too.much.. but then got a bloody grip and stopped again.... overall moving in the right direction. Not really looking forward to the self discovery aspects of continuing sobriety as the means facing up to stuff I would rather ignore. .. but I am trying... counsellor it attempting to help and I am making a toolkit as suggested by dee... sober seems easy compared to working out myself! Thanks for asking , hope you are well and happy x

Gee, I never even saw this thread come back up in my list. I talk too much in other threads and never even see this one.

enfin, I hope it's going well for you. Counseling is a great way to find your center again.

Hugs and best wishes to you and Discovery14. We are getting there. 22 months now, eh, Discovery? Yay!!!

Enfin, don't beat yourself up over having a drink at Xmas, but ... take a hard look at the cause of it.

What are you going to do differently next time? The time to think out and have a plan is before you are in the situation.

Hey Bimini!

Good to hear from you. I just added it up and yup 22 months tonight which is 96 weeks. You are a few days past that if I remember correctly.

Wow! Weekends don't creep up on me anymore.

Only a day ahead of me then, my date is the 6th.

How are you doing Enfin?

Remember to put yourself and your path to sobriety first.

I have to go off traveling for work again. Will only be home 2 days in the next nearly 3 weeks. I will try to keep in touch but I hate hotels and usually only go to the room in time to crash and fall asleep.

And mine.
Did you start off with Lent as well BB?

Its funny, because actually Lent didn't really mean much to me at all at the time. It was just a way to get through that first month without my (drinker) friends hassling me to hit the alcohol as the pub landlord at my 'local' was off it for Lent as well. Now Lent is much more meaningful to me.

She's Bb, I'm bb. I purposely didn't use capitals so I wouldn't be BB. Long story.

Bim works.

Beccybean, I chose March 5 because on March 4, 2014 I landed on my knees in total surrender to my addiction and cried out to God to help me.

Hi, Discovery!
