Class Of March 2014 Part 12
People use the site in a lot of varying ways Bruce - many people use it when they need it and then return to their new sober lives..
Nothing wrong with that
there's certainly no pressure for you or anyone else to stick around like I did, lol - s'all good

Nice to see Bruce and Trach stop by.
Maybe - who knows - maybe some of the others will check in someday.
We'll leave a candle in the window
I totally understand moving on. I say to myself every day, "I'm not logging on to SR today." That lasts until I get my coffee made. Then I say, "Well, I'll just post in the 24 hour thread." ...then it's on.

Hey Wolf, 21 months? That's fantastic, well done!!
I wish I had the opportunity to take a stroll now and again in nature. There's just this little thing called "work".
Hmmm, there's a river near the Client I'm working with currently. Tomorrow I'm going to check out, take a drive and walk by the river for an hour or so.
Thanks for the inspiration...! Why not? Who's going to miss an hour and I think it's a great idea.
Yep, that's what I'm going to do.
Thank you!

Thanks, Bim.
I do work away from home quite a lot (mostly in the bush), but the Clients are very demanding, wanting their bang for their buck, so to speak. If they don't see you they think that they are losing out (even though you could be slaving away at the hotel).
Currently I'm working at the Head Office of a big mining company in Joburg where "visibility" is rather high on their list - amazing the priorities of some companies.
When replying to Wolf, I just thought "b*gger it, why not take a break and just walk a bit by the river?"
I've got some new pictures I took in Phalaborwa. will post them.
I have missed being here too, and thank you so much for the kind words, Bim.

Oh, wow. Is that a nuclear site? It can't be, right? Too small?...
That is the shape of the nuclear chimneys here in the States. I don't see that shape very often - the wide chimney on the right center of the picture. They are huge in size here. Or is that a silo? Hard to tell.
Thanks for photos!

If you look riiiight at the top of the picture, you can see a plane taking off. That was the baby that used to take us home on a Friday.
Good morning Marchers! (or day, evening depending on where you are)...
...Life's been crazy but one thing's for sure... alcohol did not touch my lips in 240 days! (well that is questionable if you count Listerine, but that would be it!)....
I have been going to 1-2 f2f meetings (LiFeRing, non-AA) per week and between that and work and taking care of my 85 year old parents and wife and 8 yr old daughter I don't seem to have a minute to do anything else (well I do still play tennis to work out and get my cardio otherwise I'd go berserk)...
..I have had lots of 'opportunities' to drink and each one seemed like a good idea to my AV and were all just excuses to zone out, pass out and not deal with what's in front of me (which is life (good, bad, and everything in between)). Had I taken that drink on any of those occassions it would have quickly turned into a huge binging session followed by days, weeks, months of regret, anguish and humiliation. Not going to throw away 240 hard earned days no thank you!
My relationship with my wife and daughter have never been better and it is absolutely 100% attributed to being sober. I am finally getting my wife's trust back and my daughter is watching and learning from a tea-drinking Dad which is exactly the way it should be and I am so very thankful for that.
Although I slipped after joining this class you guys were my "first class" and now have found my life-long class in the Class of August 2014.
I just wanted to check in and say I love you all and still think about you all !!

Hey Chris!
Good to hear that things are going so well with you and your family!!
240 days - excellent, Man.
We know how easy (and pointless and devastating and , etc, etc) it would be to throw it all away. No way! We've worked too hard for this, endured too may senseless sacrifices and shame and caused too much pain.
Strength to you, Chris, great to know you are on track and enjoying your family.
All the best,
Bruce.
