I officially made it to one month which feels good -- committing to another 24 hrs. - 10:09pm NYC.

I'm here checking in for the next 24 hours of my recovery. My AA home group, and most meetings I attend are going to have to relocate. The City Of Pasadena has set the date of August 26th as our final date to meet at our present location. We've known since January I think....but as of today..no new meeting location as been found. We'll be meeting at a local park for the time being. I know something will work out.

Today’s flower: the night-blooming cereus. There are several species known by that name. They all bear large white blooms that only last a few hours or one night. One variety Peniocereus greggii grows abundantly in the wild in the Sonoran Desert where I used to live, looking like a pile of dead cactus all year until one night and one night only they all bloom at once. I remember my father grew one of a different variety, probably Epiphyllum oxypetalum , and the night it bloomed he got everyone in the family out of bed and took us all down to see it in our pajamas.

This is a time-lapse video (or link if you prefer) from bud to withering of the species Selenicereus grandiflorus. Nature seems to feel like it’s worthwhile to create something that’s so briefly beautiful – why do we demand so much more from ourselves and others?

Thank you for the encouraging posts. This is the longest I have been sober. My previous attempts have never gotten past 3 weeks so it feels really good to get to a month.
