Good morning everyone. Checking in for another 24 hours, it's 0618 eastern time from Ohio.
Saw an interesting statistic yesterday. In the United States beer consumption overall fell from 2012 to 2013 from 27.3 gallons per drinking aged adult to 26.7 or something similar. Decimals might be off just a little. I never thought about beer in gallons so I did a quick calculation on how much I was drinking, a pretty conservative estimate was around 550 gallons per year. Budweiser was glad to have me for a while pulling up the average.

WOW! With me it was wine--wonder how many gallons? And airplane bottles of vodka and gin? (Airplane bottles because they were easier to smuggle into the house in my purse, stuffed in a sock so they wouldn't clink and make a giveaway noise).

I will pray for your friend's daughter, Afloatsober. Also for a happy wedding in August!

In for 24 more please at 11:45 am xx
Had a lovely day at the races yesterday. I thought a lot of people would be drunk but they actually weren't.
Nice article in yesterday's newspaper:
"This morning I began the first day of my 25th year as a non-drinker. That makes it 8,766 alcohol-free days without a sip of alcohol, one day at a time". - See more at: The alternative to drink is freedom from a substance that was the point of my life - Independent.ie

Day 11. 24 more, please.
Going out to eat Mexican w/friends tonight which was always a great excuse for margaritas & lots of 'em. Think I'll treat myself tonight - to a cherry coke! Not only do I WANT to remain sober, I have a huge presentation at work tomorrow so I MUST remain sober. See you all in the morning - hangover-free!
Have a great day!

Had a sober first night home. It used to be that my first night back from offshore would be my most important drinking night. I'm picking up my 90 Day chip tonight, which I actually qualified for a few weeks ago but couldn't get since I was on the rig. It feels so good to be home!!!

Beautiful posts to wake up to today, thanks!
DaneK, I wasn't going to say it, but I was a bit worried about your first night on shore. Glad you made it through and will pick up that chip! Keep doing what you're doing, on land or at sea!
It's 9:38 a.m. in NYC and I'm here for another 24.
