Class of December 2010 Part 9
Class of December 2010 Part 9
There are some odd deja vu's going on...the same friend who was in town last year that next day, is here today. I was so hungover I could hardly function but we still went out and that was the day I had to say sorry, no drinks for me. So tonight we'll meet a group at a restaurant...I will be fine. SR has given me much strength to make it through these social events.
Our thread has slowed down and we have seen people come and go but I will forever be grateful to everyone on here for all the support and words of wisdom. Thank you all!
I am still here, but didn't post much on here. (well, I didn't even know it existed for a while) I will have one year on Dec. 28th! Excited to hit a year, not my first time hitting a year on SR, but my first time hitting a year in RECOVERY!

That's fantastic MGF!
Congratulations!
Hi Maryjan.
Hi Lily.
R&A..you must be almost a year now too?
I'm 4 1/2 months now... it's been a long haul and a lot of work (been trying to quit for almost 3 years).
Feeling pretty solid now though.
I've changed. For the better.
My whole outlook on life and how to deal with it is different now.
Sobriety is very precious to me. I give thanks every single day for it.
You folks continue to inspire me.
Thanks.
Congratulations!

Good going R&A
Congratulations to you and also MGF on one year, that is amazing!
I kind of envy people that decide to quit and then just DO it.
I always figured that if drinking ever became a problem I would simply quit.
Not that easy for me though.. even after it had become a VERY big problem.
The progression of alcoholism was unreal, I simply had no idea of how to live without booze.
It was a foreign concept to me to live sober after so many years of abuse, it was all I knew.
I didn't know how to live sober, and kept faltering back to the only way I knew how to live, and that was to drink.
But thanks to the help of an amazing counsellor, AA, you folks here at SR, and my Higher Power, I'm getting my life back.
Have a great week.

Oh, Hooped, I decided to stop drinking lots of times. Sometimes on a daily basis. But in the back of my mind it was always a sacrifice I was making, and I remained fairly non-committal on how long it would last. Which is probably why I never lasted very long at all...
Good for you, GFCO. There's nothing fantastic about that beer selection—not for us, anyway!
