Tis the season......
Yes.....parties .. weddings ... social and business events
sometimes are part of our lives.
Here are some tips that have worked for me
and I have left sober each time.
Go late ...leave early
Take your own car.
Ask a sober friend to go with you.
Take sober peoples phone numbers to call if you get antsy.
Turn your wine glass upside down at dinner
..denoting to the server you don't plan to drink
When toasts are made raise a glass of water
Get your own beverage from the bar. then
carry around a glass with something non alcoholic
(Club soda and Lime ..Coke with a cherry...Virgin Mary)
When asked "want a drink"?
you then say..."No thanks I have one"
When you leave your beverage ...smell before drinking.
It's easy to mix up the glasses.
Dance often and enjoy!

I finally got my copy of "Under the Influence".
I ordered it about 6 weeks ago.
Brand spanking new copy.
Such a small book.. a paperback.
So far, Ive only had time to open it up and read it randomly.
Identifying with everthing written there though.
I can tell this book is going to be a favourite for me.
Still here ..day 6 shortly
Slippery, Irish, Better, and everybody else....
This is so much better isn't it?
Keep it up.

Hi everyone. Just checking out different threads here on SR and thought I would join this one as today being day 2. Today was ok for me. I didn't really do much except watch some tv and read some stuff here on SR. I have all these thoughts and emotions running thru my head and my brains feeling a lil foggy. I'm happy I didn't drink today.

Hi everyone.....:another good day for sober living
There are various ways to continue winning over alcohol.
Some people...like me....find their solution within a traditional
structered program ..others do not.
Here is a list for you to explore...and other resource info

There is no one perfect way for everyone...
I don't agree with some AA concepts..and I still find it beneficial....
Improvements all require effort and changes.
All my best

Don't forget to take action that benefits you
A bubble bath...brisk walk...how about a new hair cut/mainicure?
Staying positive ..being gentle with myself...
all part of my recovery process.
Wishing you the best possible day...
DAY 10! Almost to two weeks. The longest I think I've gone is about three weeks since I've been keeping track anyway. Just gotta get through the holidays, and I feel January will be a breeze. I am pretty confident. I have to thank everyone at SR for keeping me motivated.

Day three!
Newbie here, and last night was my second in a row without getting drunk -- the first time I've gotten through two nights without alcohol since, I think, the beginning of October.
