Members with less than 2 weeks Welcome-Part 14
Happy Friday, everyone! 7 days today. I'm suffering a bit from the "poor me's," and not sure what that is about, but I'm not going to give in to it. Doing a memorial 5K tomorrow morning, so I need to get to bed soon. Hope you all are doing well!

First Friday - day five. Today I came clean to my wife about everything I've been hiding for years related to my disease. It was a very exhausting day for both of us, but we are going to sleep well tonight. Tomorrow we will be just a tiny bit better.

Welcome to the family RGB! Glad you've joined us.
Yes, they will, at least they did for me. It was somewhere between four to six months sober when I had the sudden realization that I was no longer thinking about drinking. It was a very freeing feeling and has only gotten stronger in the last few months.
So keep at it, all. Staying sober can be hard work but will become the norm after some time.
Good morning all.
I am pretty sure these "social drinker" thoughts will pass in time

Last night was awful, we went out for something to eat, came back to half a dozen teenagers in the attic (half cut!), my husband opened his beer and wine sat down quite happily and got stuck in! My middle son ended up really drunk - then he wanted to leave the house so I told him if he went (it was 11pm) not to come back whilst he was drunk, so he's still out somewhere (he's 18 btw).
Fed up today and its Saturday and I'm dreading tonight!!!!! sorry for banging on guys.......

Lulu, congrats on one week.
RGB, that is a huge step. From my own experience it helped tremendously when I owned up to my wife.
Zuri, hang in there....stay strong through the tough times.
Phytoman and SD...day 14 for you two. CONGRATULATIONS...see you tomorrow in the under 30 club....that is awesome.
Have a great day everyone.

Zuri - I'm impressed that you are strong enough to keep sober surrounded by alcohol and other drinkers. Keep it up it's worth it!
SD - Day 14! Whodda thunk?
Coop and NAT - Thanks for the encouragement and example. See you soon in the under 30 club!
irish - congrats on 5 days! It's a good feeling, isn't it?
Dee, Carol, and least - It's good to get the support of you longtimers! Thanks for all you do!
RGB - Keep taking those positive steps! Congrats!
Slowtrain (my wife) - she hasn't posted on this thread yet, but she quit with me and has been a strength to me. She is amazing, and much stronger than I. If you see her on these boards, say 'hi'.

Stay strong everyone. Stay focused on 'today' cause it's really all we've got - just today. I'm getting so psyched up over my one year sober coming up - especially since I never thought I could do it. But the help and support here (and occasional asskickings) helped me tremendously and here I am, nearly a year sober and happier than I've ever been. And I did it just like you're doing it: one day at a time.
