Thats the reason why I enjoy SR so much though. I know everyone is going through the same thing and we all can relate to the madness!

I don't think I was an addict to start with tho. When I read the Friends and Family Forum, I used to feel exactly like they do, wonder all the same things.

My first real b/f, I was 16, he was 18, he had given up drugs and drank instead, from first thing in the morning onwards! He also had a motorbike, which was just the best fun, but I think we are both lucky to be alive, considering!

I'm speaking at a meeting tody..suppose to be an hour.
(what it was like, what happened, what it is like now)

I wonder how they'll react if I say

I drank alot
I stoped
If you don't drink, you won't get drunk

and then sit down.

wibbly...glad you're doing ok and I love that you are talking with your wife about it....My mom knew I was drinking again and too much, but she was shocked when she found out just how bad it was.

Fizzy...Thats one reason I love you so much....there are a million ways to do this deal cause different things work for everyone....I'm an odd ball around my town....some people are the potatos, and some of us...we are the salt and peper

Timmy....just be sure that she knows that to the wives and family afterwards was written by a bunch of white males in the 30s......and alchoholics to boot!!!! She can pm me if she wants to know the real deal (LOL)

LB - lots of recovering alchoholics end up in alanon or coda or something like that....most of us have a "duel diagonosis"!!!

Love your idea for the presentation.

If you could try and slip the word bollocks into it that'd be perfect....

Sounds perfect nands: here's mine!

One day I decided I drank too much. Then I decided to stop. I couldn't. I tried to cut down. I couldn't. 3 years later I walked into AA. Haven't had a drink since.

Not going to drink today even if my bollocks fall off. oh sh*t, they have!!

Morning (afternoon) everyone,
Messed up again, so tired of myself. But, onward! Pix, can I join you on day 1? Congrats to everybody who's staying sober - great job!

Going to a funeral this morning for a coworker's mother. Fortunately they were too late to get an alcohol license for the reception. Have a good day everybody!

Welcome colagirl. Day 1 is always an excellent start. That's your HP, making sure there is no liquor licence!

cola girl...glad you came right back....I still love that one....

don't give up before the mirical happens...

Now I think we have to put in some work...and I think you are...but I've never been quite sure why I finally made it to that first day sober...or the days after that.

I do think in so many ways it's the early sobriety that is the toughest...although I have had my close calls in the last year as well.

Just keep on doing whatever you can to stay sober and just as important stay alive long enough to get to sobriety.

HUGS

Hey Colagirl, main thing is you came back. Thats the key. Doesn't matter how many times you fall you've just got to get back up carry on.

And if things get too much just shout "BOLLOCKS!" as loud as you can.

Think of it as English therapy....
