Tursiops, so happy to see you posting.

Fearless, I haven't seen RW in that! I'm so conflicted about pushing my kids. My parents were very hands-off when I was growing up, which definitely promoted independence, but I feel like I wasted so many years not believing that I couldn't really do very much. Like you I'm sure, we now live in a very competitive go-go-go region where many kids start their tutoring for "gifted" programs when they're extremely young (I say "gifted" because I feel like so few actually meet that criteria, it's more about parents pushing them). The college selection process has kicked things into high gear, but I need to maintain a more balanced perspective for SURE.

Grateful for coffee.
Grateful I got my second vaccine shot, and the side effects weren't bad.
Grateful I received an Amazon package sooner than expected!
Grateful that my schedule for this week is a little easier than last week (at least in terms of presentations).
Grateful I don't have to absorb the negative energy of my employee, I can just keep things moving.
Grateful for the gorgeous green views outside my window.
Grateful to be sober.

Turps, I noticed that about my mailbox this morning too. Lol. I finally decluttered a bit but I still need to do more. I’m glad you have support around you. Still it must be so hard. I always remember this quote that I wanted to share: to live in hearts we leave behind is not to die -by Thomas Campbell. I hope it helps you even just a little

Palmer, we could have a whole conversation about this part of raising kids. My situation is that my son meets official gifted criteria. Yet, he no longer wants to be in any gifted program and doesn’t want people to see him this way (he thinks it’s nerdy) so he will calculate how to do his school work so he gets A minuses and B’s in his strongest subjects, which stumps his teachers because he gets near perfect scores on standardized testing. He thinks he may want to start off at a community college after high school. it’s ironic to me that I have friends who’s kids are trying very hard to get into gifted or accelerated programs and already planning which top university they are shooting to get accepted to.

ok, sorry for the rant. That probably belongs on the whiners, not the grat thread!

I am grateful I have a boy with a strong mind and sense of self, who is not likely to succumb to negative peer pressure
Grateful to sit by the fire
Grateful my side effects from yesterday’s shot #2 are not so bad. Arm soreness and a little fatigue
Grateful to be reading a phenomenal book called How Not to Die about plant based food and lifestyle
Grateful to order new bedroom furniture for sonny boy
Grateful to have a low key week

Hello dear Grat Packers. I know it's a morning gratitude thread, but maybe I can get a pass for posting at night because reasons.
Grateful that our kids and I have formed a tight team, and are taking care of ourselves and each other. Grateful the boys stuck up for themselves in wanting a tiny, limited funeral because they're overwhelmed, so we're going to do exactly what the three of us want and need, and no more.
Grateful for flowers, messages of support, and emails from Mr. T's colleagues and friends who are sharing kind and thoughtful memories and reflections.
Grateful for my therapist going to DefCon three and insisting on me calling day or night for support whenever I need it.
Grateful for your kind support here on SR.

SO grateful Tursiops has lots of support and feels good about the decisions being made.
Fearless, that's a really interesting angle, and must be pretty frustrating at times! It's such a tough balance. Sometimes I also feel like I'm making up for lost time due to my drinking years.

Grateful for coffee.
Grateful that a super talented person (who worked with me for years) has agreed to move over to my team once there's a vacancy. Grateful that I can also rely on her support in the meantime. Grateful we really "get" each other.
Grateful to be making lots of new and productive work connections.
Grateful for all the bright greenery in my neighborhood!
Grateful that a bad night's sleep still beats a hangover any day.
Grateful that we had some good laughs last night, watching old SNL Chris Farley clips.
Grateful to be sober.

Grateful for my big boy, Charlie, kneading on the blanket next to me
Grateful to feel well rested
Grateful Mr F planted all the flowers and shrubs in the zen space so I didn’t have to
Grateful to be meeting two coworker friends in San Francisco for lunch and shopping. First time there in a year and a half.
Grateful that I finally get to pull out some cute clothes that have been hanging in my closet
Grateful for this special place and all of you
