Excellent thread.
When I want to escape or allow my mind to think about something other than my AW, I listen to lots of Ambient music and Classical stuff.

When my AW pulls some BS on me and I managed to detach and keep my stuff inside, I feel like I lost a battle. Therefore, I love Viking Death Metal like Amon Amarth. They're always battling and conquering. It ain't "nice" music but it sure does restore some of my strength.

YouTube - Amon Amarth - Cry Of The Black Birds

Love Miranda Lambert!!!

My playlist depends a lot on my mood and how I'm feeling about my XABF at the time. Some of the songs I keep on repeat though are:

Sara Evans "Little Bit Stronger"
Miranda Lambert -"Kerosene"
Shinedown- "Call Me"
Jarrod Neiman-"What do you Want From Me"
Carrie Underwood-"Starts With Goodbye"
Carrie Underwood "You Won't Find This"
Jewel-"Stronger Women"
Reba-"Strange"
Chely Wright "Love Lets Go"
Carrie Underwood "Lessons Learned"
Carrie Underwood "I Know You Won't"
Carrie Underwood "Undo It"
Jaron and the Long to Love-"Pray for You"

Along with a "thanks" button - this page needs a "me too" button!

I've been singing (in my head) Johnny Nash's 'I can see clearly now' for about 5 days. Really fitting for my current state of mind.

I'm not sure if it would be considered "uplifting" In my interpretation with alcohol being as destructive as it is, this song has personified the battle and my will to stop.

All the words and the tone portray what I feel when it comes to alcohol. It is an aggressive battle that I am determined to win

Note: The child being drawn in, the death, the accidents.. the shame, and anger.

This time, taking it away
I've got a problem
With me getting in the way
My final sign
So I take my face and bash it into a mirror
I won't have to see the pain (bleed, bleed)

This state is elevating, as the hurt turns into hating
Anticipating all the ****** up feelings again

The hurt inside is fading
This ***** gone way too far
All this time I've been waiting
Oh I cannot give anymore
For what's inside awaking
I'm done, I'm not a *****
You've taken everything
and, Oh I cannot give in anymore

My mind's done with this
Ok, I've got a question
Can I throw it all away?
Take back what's mine
So I take my time, guiding the blade down the line
Each cut closer to the vein (bleed, bleed)

This state is elevating, as the hurt turns into hating
Anticipating all the f@$#ed up feelings again

The hurt inside is fading
This ***** gone way too far
All this time I've been waiting
Oh I cannot give anymore
For once inside awaking
I'm done, I'm not a *****
You've taken everything
and, Oh I cannot give in anymore

no fluff here.

This type of music isn't my cup of tea, but I've ALWAYS dug "walking on sunshine" by Katrina & the Waves.

Thumbs up

I just discovered Chris Tomlin yesterday! My new favorite singer!
Two of my favorite songs for empowerment are: Tom Petty's Refugee and Elton John's I'm still standing.

I prefer C&W and Southern Rock. I can't seem to "digest" Korn?

Thanks and God bless us all,

I love, love, love me some Reba McEntire. LMC and I like watching her sitcom called "Reba", she's pretty funny, not to mention one FINE looking 55yo woman. Damn. But I digress.

LMC made me look up her theme song the other day on youtube, she listened to it about 100 times, we're listening right now!

Made me think of all of US here on SR. So here ya go....YouTube - Reba McEntire - I'm a Survivor

Thanks and God bless us all,
Coyote

P.S. If you google Reba, the TV show, read the character descriptions on Wicki, her oldest teen daughter (on the show) is an alcoholic with a new born. Something tells me Reba "gets it".

Man, those two are living the good life. I felt all "filled with the spirit" by proxy, just watching them.

That WAS uplifting. Thanks!

Thanks and God bless us all,
Coyote

Two more...

Over You, Daughtrey
Forget You, Cee Lo Green (There is another version called "F___ You" for those of you like me who sing along and find it cathartic to drop the "f" bomb repeatedly! ).

Tom Petty's Refugee
Oh my how I love this song.

I prefer C&W and Southern Rock. I can't seem to "digest" Korn?
You gotta be tough like me! Strong woman! Live life in the fast lane!
With my dangerous dog, MiniMe. (minature dachshund)
Yeah, we terrorize the neighborhood, me in my black coat and Mini in her black and tan!
:rotfxko

I have a special weakness for southern rock, I lived a lot of years in Norf Kackalackey and Georgia.
That reminds me of a cool song, "georgia' by Ray Charles.

Tom Petty "Breakdown"

Forget You, Cee Lo Green
YES! Have you heard the one by Eminem and Lil Wayne?

Ima pick the world up and Ima drop it on yo effin head?

Power song.
