Uplifting Songs

One thing I'm doing to keep myself in a positive frame of mind is listen to uplifting music. I've decided that the classic "you done me wrong song," "I Will Survive," must have been written by a Codependent!

I'm feeling a lot of power from Natalie Grant's "I Will Not Be Moved."

And, I have a whole folder of "you suck" songs for when I get angry (Kate Nash-Foundations, Kelly Clarkson-Never Again, Evanescence-Call me When You're Sober, Jo Dee Messina-My Give a Damn's Busted, Erykah Badu-Call Tyrone).

Music is powerful! Do you have any uplifting songs to suggest? :a122:

Yeah, I'm old. :lmao
But, it's still my all time favorite feel good song!

I have been listening to the Michael Card CD my parents gave me.
It's Contemporary Christian Music, which I haven't listened to in ages, but I am finding that every song on the CD has something related to how I'm feeling.
This is my "Thinking About Who I Am" CD, and I am enjoying it.

I also listened to a song on a country station today, I found it by accident.
Someone here quotes it in their signature, all about "When you're going through hell, keep going" - I would love to know who wrote that song, I want to find myself a copy of it.

And someone linked me to this song, very early on when I was on the forum.
I have it bookmarked, and listen to it whenever I start to wonder if I did the right thing.
Jar of Hearts

Even though the graphics are a little fuzzy - they go so beautifully with this awesome song.
John Denver - The Eagle and The Hawk

I love the Jar of Hearts song by Christina Perri, too. I found out about it here on SR, I think.
Call Me When You're Sober by Evanescence also
Hit 'Em Up Style by the Carolina Chocolate Drops - another one I heard here at SR
I'm All Over It Now - Jamie Cullum
Summertime - Ella Fitzgerald - just anything by Ella
Fresh Feeling - by Eels (I think)
Give Me One Reason - Traci Chapman
The Last Day of Our Acquaintance - Sinead O'Connor
And not really uplifting, but it just cracks me up: Tangerine Speedo - by Caviar

Yes it is!

Theory of Deadman has one called So Happy I used to get particular satisfaction from, lol.

There are a lot of good one's if you search old thread.

Right now I'm love'n Johnny Nash "I Can See Clearly Now" All that inspiration from decades ago!

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been prayin' for
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there's nothin' but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin' but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Wooo! I feel better right now just having listened to it again!

ETA: I had not heard Jar of Hearts before. Good one!

Yeah, that's one of my favs too.

I've taken to listen to music that AH dislikes if I'm in a mood. So Green Day(American idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, he likes old Green Day) is a big one, Glee stuff, REM, etc. I think I just showed my geek roots, didn't I? LOL

I do have the previously mentioned Kelly Clarkson songs, and the Evanescence songs on my playlist too.

nice one suki, red rubber ball :scoregood

here's a few that always lift me up if I feel bummed out

for the lyrics as much as the melodies.

It's actually a slightly modified Winston Churchill quote

"If you're going through hell, keep going."

"Don't Worry Be Happy" by Bob Marley

YouTube - BOB MARLEY - DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

A song that always calms me is "Let It Be"- Beatles

Well, when I was gearing up for leaving, I listened to Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder and Lead" on a daily basis...
YouTube - Miranda Lambert - Gunpowder & Lead

And when AH got really quacky, I'd listen to this one:
YouTube - Narwhals
or this one:
YouTube - Badgers
because they made more sense than he did.

Lyrics:

Open up ya eyes, and watch the sunrise

One point we have to make clear,

Love are gonna spread around the world ya know.

Me love ya, comes out of devotion.

To rule ya, spread to the world.

In Trenchtown, I'm on my mission,

Where we praise the day, straight away,

All the nation.

Let me be the love that comes from the sun,

Let me be your rainbow rising up,

Every single race, out of space,

we'll shine on, ey, shine on!

Let me be the love that comes from the sun,

I wanna be your love light from above,

shine on, shine on, shine on!

Me love ya, comes out of devotion.

To rule ya, spread to the world.

In Trenchtown, I'm on my mission,

Where we praise the day, straight away,

All the nation.

Let me be the love that comes from the sun,

Let me be your rainbow rising up,

Every single race, out of space,

we'll shine on, ey, shine on!

Let me be the love that comes from the sun,

I wanna be your love light from above,

shine on, shine on, shine on!

Let the sun shine down on your face,

No need to feel wrong, you're in the right place,

And me know that you feel

what we are gonna tell you now,

So, gather all your friends around and,

Come join me down the club, got the song,

and gonna move you,

So prove you're right, feel it tonight now.

Let me be the love that comes from the sun,

Let me be your rainbow rising up,

Every single race, out of space,

we'll shine on, ey, shine on!

Let me be the love that comes from the sun,

I wanna be your love light from above,

shine on, shine on, shine on!

All over the world!

Open up ya eyes, and watch the sunrise

One point we have to make clear,

Love are gonna spread around the world ya know.

Lots of good ones, but this "Don't worry" song always had the opposite effect on me, made me feel homicidal. :scorebad

Thanks and God bless us all,

Great suggestions!! Love that Jar of Hearts song and the Rodney Atkins "Going Through Hell" one.

There were two songs from the movie Secretariat that I love. One is an old one - Oh Happy Day by the Edwin Hawkins Singers and the other is It's Who You Are by AJ Michalka.

It's A Wonderful Night - Fatboy Slim

SoloMio 01-21-2011 10:28 AM

My favorite uplifting songs:

Let It Be
It's A Wonderful World
Morning Has Broken

My favorite uplifting song for letting go of relationships:

Rope Burn
http://silententry.files.wordpress.c...rope-burn3.m4a

Follow me down to the place
Where I saw you giving your blood
If you don't feel that way still
It's nice of you to say

You think you lost your love
But what do you expect when you push and shove pieces back into place
They’re not meant to be arranged

But I’ll hang on and I will start to learn
That there’s no shame in getting a little rope burn
When you hang on so tight…

Just let it go…

This wind has a bitter chill
But you don’t even mind standing out in the cold
Cuz it’s the easiest way for you to keep what you hold
But I’ll hang on and I’ll start to learn
That my hands will hurt until I get rope burn

And things have changed
And you’ve got to take it day by day
It has to happen this way

But it’s the start of something great
With a new timeline!

And it’s OK
You will learn to deal with what comes next
It’s the start of something great with a brand new day.
