Sober Weekend Planned? You MAY (9-11) Join Us!

Sobrietus Optimus Maximus Weasel asked me to kick off the sober weekend thread this week. Perhaps if he knew I would pun the subject line he would have asked someone else!

The Sober Weekenders thread has become a tradition in the Newcomer's Forum. Those first few weekends can be a struggle. Even the normies are out drinking, and it was habitual for us to join them. When we realized we had to give it up we rallied together for support - right here on good ol' Sober Recovery - and the Sober Weekend Thread was born!

I am in, and it's never too late for you to be in, too! Even if you take a face plant on Friday or wake up sad and sorry on Sunday. If you want the rest of your weekend to be sober, you're in!

I have to work on Friday (THE HORROR!), but I am picking up some lumber after work and I will be ripping pine all weekend long. 8 Adirondack chairs are on my to-do list and I'd LOVE to have them checked off come Monday morning.

What are y'all doing?

I'm in! I'll be doing work stuff on Saturday and fun stuff (like biking and playing softball) on Sunday. Supposed to rain here I think.

Thanks, Non, for getting us started. I'll have to find a good bacon pic for you this weekend

Hey guys and gals, going upstate to see my Mom and Sister for the weekend, will be nice to see them even though my 94 yo mom doesn't always know who I am till reminded 100 times , I still want to see her on Mothers' Day , even though it is depressing that I had to ask permission and get a travel pass from my probation officer at 58 yo to go see my family. SO will be unhappy having to drive 300 miles each way as she usually slept while I drove, oh well , she needs the practice LOL! Will not be drinking Alcohol so I don't worry! Have a Great Sober Weekend All ! Stay Strong and Well ! Bobby

Non is pining for his Adirondack chairs so cut him some slack. Two can play the pun game.

Work tomorrow after a day off today and then the weekend. Piano practice and baseball on Saturday. I will buy flowers to plant for my mother and my sister in law. A tradition for me. My mom needs some good cheer. We went rummage sailing today and ended up in the emergency room as she felt most unwell. She is home and resting tonight. It was scary but I'm glad I remained level headed and was sober.

I'm in the for the weekend.

****And I adore the smell of fresh cut pine. MMMMmmm.

Thanks for reminding me ruby. Wife asked me when I picked up the tomato plants out back and when I intend to put them in the ground.
I was going to rejoin my old iop group tomorrow. But counselor called and said the group is no more. There's always fishing.

Hello Weekenders! I am in!

Did you bring the bacon, Non?

New painting idea I want to work on this Saturday, a walk and lunch with my Mom on Sunday.
Is it time to plant tomatoes already? I guess I better get on that.

Count me in for a sober weekend

I have to work on Friday. Going to build a cabinet and other small projects on the rainy Saturday. Make a great breakfast for the family on Sunday morning and go to a concert in the afternoon.

Have a great sober weekend!

I am going to be graduating from community college with a 2 year degree almost a year to the day of showing up drunk to fail a final and being involved in a horrific alcohol related crash. I will tell the whole story here another time. But hopefully I will be enjoying the weather and planning the next phase of my life. And definitely staying sober.

Congrats Brian on graduating! That's great.

LBrain, tomatoes and peppers reminds me that I have to get my garden started. It was too wet for a bit to turn the dirt and now planting season is started. You are ahead of me. Olive, I'll plant some pickles for you Fishing sounds like a good plan. A coworker already put in a vacation request for OCTOBER for walleye fishing. I'm always in awe of people who can plan that far in advance. Something to strive for.

Night all! I'm off for bed.

I might try that this year. Water my cucumber plants with vinegar. I like it.
I'm having a hard time finding poblano peppers - I didn't start seeds this year

If you are into peppers you gotta grow these. They are the best stuffed or on the grill on top of a burger or sausage patty.

So if anyone knows where I can get me some poblano pepper plants let me know. Home Depot can get them but won't.

Hi everyone, can I play, too? I'm in! Kicking off the weekend with a nice little CrossFit workout on Friday. Then I have to be at work at 8 AM on sat-yuck. Sunday? I think there's something I'm supposed to remember about that day. I hope it comes to me.
Oh, and I got the new Dan Brown book today, so I'll be chugging through that, I hope.
Have a good sober weekend everyone!
