Hi sorry saks!!!! I see we have some badassery going on here by Bunny! I am now only 9 hours away from finishing week 3 and then I think I will be alright with this. I don't know why I think that

I found out about something called an Extinction burst. It refers to some psychological phenom that probably applies heavily to all of us that make it part way up that slope and then find ourselves sliding back down over and over. I love the url of this website and they celebrate self delusion so you gotta love it.
https://youarenotsosmart.com/2010/07...inction-burst/

Just before you give up on a long-practiced routine, you freak out. It’s a final desperate attempt by the oldest parts of your brain to keep getting rewarded. As Matt Webb explains at Interconnected.org – if you use the same elevator every day to get to avoid climbing 10 flights of stairs, and one day you press the button and nothing happens, you don’t just immediately take the stairs. You start jamming all the buttons over and over again, you get mad, you ask around for help, you talk to other people, you go back and press the buttons again, and then, finally, you take the stairs.

We all keepa go and gather more info until we beat whatever we need to's collective ass.

Broke it for today. Full body weights/resistance bands workout. 24 total sets and I am feeling pretty spent.

Haven't posted in a while, but everything continues as it was. Generally eating healthy home cooked from scratch meals and exercising every day. Some days intensively, some not so much for recovery. Today is going to fall into the latter category.

Aussieblue, you recently wrote about lack of motivation. Just as inertia brings more inertia movement brings more movement. Just do something. Anything. Walk for 15 minutes for example. Rinse and repeat the next day. Anything is better than nothing.

So true, I finally pulled myself together and got moving again yesterday . I went for a short pushbike ride and a walk and Yes I felt good for doing it , getting back on the bike today.

Aussieblue, it's nice to read that you, in your words, got moving today.

My Day

After a few days of intensive exercise I knew my body needed some rest so I restricted myself to some core exercises at home. Eating has been spot on, but will take a bit of hit tonight. Nothing terrible and I'll be back at it tomorrow.

... ... I got dishes in washer yesterday and gonna take out trash today. Might jump on trampoline for couple few minutes.

It really sad for me how weak, flabby and frail I am. Is easy to ignore body entirely when you life revolve around using, yes?

Glad to hear there are some up and moving. I'm going to give it a few more days then force myself. All I want to do since I quit smoking is sleep.

Keep going silent!

Agreed cow- its easy to let the body go when using.

I'm still good, home cooked meals, walking about an hour each day

Yes, it easy to ignore the body.
But give it attention a bit at a time and things will get better.
Body has an incredible ability to rally and improve even with
all we've thrown at her. . .

I'm even contemplating some crazy stuff like trail running / ultra distance
next year.
Mind you, I've barely run a 5 K before, but back when I used to live in SF bay area
I would sometimes go run slowly for hours in a place called Redwood Park.
I feel like I need something physical to work towards,
and the nice thing about distance and trail running is you don't
have to talk to anybody in person, which suits me fine.

I'm really having trouble with the isolating these days--
I'm nice and kind to people I work with, people I see in daily life,
but the anhedonia really has made it easy to detach from real connections.

Hugs cow. Easy for me to say but don't think about what happened when you were using. What can you do today to move your body? Focus on that. Love to you from kitty.

My wife and I are nursing our daughter who had major oral surgery this morning so there will be no exercise outside of the house. I've been doing sets of pushups, all to failure; I should have kept a running count, but didn't.

Hawkeye, I've never done an ultra, but have done many marathons and a few century bicycle rides. Unlike most, I train alone unless my wife or daughter is training for a half marathon that we'll be participating in; usually that race is close to my marathon so for at about half of my long training runs I'm with them and then alone for the balance.
