“Seriously, you want to stop?” -Weekender thread 26 - 29 April 2019
Welcome to Weekenders Forwards!
At school, lunch was at 12 noon and always called dinner. It was supervised by dinnerladies who could be fearsome. Tea was what you ate when you got home. But you're right MantaLady, I do call it dinner nowadays. As I explained to my Butler and a couple of chambermaids the other day, I am really posh.
Haha Bim! There is a divide in the U.K. on calling your evening meal either dinnertime or teatime. If your from the North and not posh your evening meal is teatime. I bet Andy and Sao call their evening meal dinner lol (not saying there posh...just softy southerners lol). xx
My man friend is doing keto. It's working for him, he has lost probably 35 pounds. But he does admit he dreams about bread and pizza and caramel rolls sometimes. Kind of like how we all sometimes have drinking dreams.

This, surely is a hangover from the British Empire. Play cricket, wot, then retire for tea. I remember (not able to find with a search) in the 'Footrot Flats' cartoons (About an eccentric dog on a farm in New Zealand), where the 'dog' (no one knows his real name- as it is too embarrassing- so called 'dog') is given left over food (from afternoon tea, I think) from his owner's (Wal) annoying Aunt. The dog chucks a wobbly- with food flying n all directions, on the Ankles of the Auntie's feet- who call to Wal the dog is having a fit.
She had given the dog cucumber and bloater paste sandwiches.

"...By the way, I may have misled you by using the word ‘tea.’ None of your wafer slices of bread-and-butter. We’re good trenchermen, we of the Revolution. What we shall require will be something on the order of scrambled eggs, muffins, jam, ham, cake, and sardines. Expect us at five sharp.”

...“Sardines, sir?” said Jeeves, with a shudder.
“Sardines.”
There was an awkward pause.
“Don’t blame me, Jeeves,” I said. “It isn’t my fault.”

As Mrs Dragon often says, "LOL 2 times you guys".
I got caught out today. Mrs Dragon looked at her camera app and saw that my car was parked in the driveway. So I told her what I was up too with the bathroom, she's very excited. So we decided to go shopping for a new vanity when she get's back as the current one is shot. It's five feet long so maybe a smaller one and a storage cupboard.
G'night!

Hiya Weekenders
Funnily Enough, though we had dinnertime at school with our dinner ladies to keep a watch on us and feed us, otherwise we call it lunch. We’d take pack up for lunch at work, now we go out for lunch sometimes, confusing. I think we call it what we like when we like.
A bit brighter outside today, I’m hoping hubby will clean the guttering and soffits round the bungalow. (If his back isn’t playing up!)
I think it’s time for another cuppa and see what my cats are up to. Catch you later.

Really excellent reading this morning all the posts since I logged in last...
Nice to see you back posting Captain and MB.
Dragon it's probably a bad habit but I tend to consider any peaks or summits under 2000m the low mountains. You will usually find a lot more trees and grass and wild flowers plants etc..
Welcome forwards. No need to lurk on the weekender. Every one is pretty cool and non judgemental here
Great jokes btw...
Ok work time.

High Tea or Afternoon Tea is also often known as Cream Tea which is scones served with lashings of clotted cream and jam.
There lies another English debate ~ scone rhyming with bone or scone rhyming with gone?
Scone / bone for me
