Question im ok but,,,

hi,, im nearly hitting my 2 week goal,, and still feeling mighty fine, still no cravings at all, but im smoking like mad,,, i think maybe this is that i have something in "my hand" rather than a glass??
first week i just ate so much choccie and cake,, now ive managed to replace that with good food,, and i read instead of just sittig here,, but i cant cut down on the smokes!!
oh,, i know,,, i can if i want to right?
haha,, god this av is a bugga alright!!
ive made my big plan,, and read my rr book every day,, i re read parts too, so i have a good understandingof things,, but im just sad to see this page isnt very busy,, i go on newbies lots,, mainly to post and to start new threads to make people laff,, and hopefly inspire,, just silly things really,, but i am very positive,, and i like to share it,, its not all doom and gloom , as russell howard says,,,
so, can anyone here let me know if peeps nr the uk timeline have any chat meetings??
im afraid, when most are on chat,, its us time, and im all tucked up in bobo land,, would love to chat to some long timers for inspiration??
feel like im kinda in the middle here,, kinda lonely,,, xxx
so hops all having a nice wednesday wherever you are,,
x lv cleo xxxxxxx

Hi Cleo,

You and I are almost in the same boat. I don't smoke anymore. Oddly I quit that before alcohol. I found that almost harder to quit than the alcohol. Here in the US (at least in some parts) smoking is less socially acceptable than drinking.

Totally wish this forum had more activity. I too read all the other forums, but generally prefer this one. I work from home alot so I am around quite a bit and can chat and work at the same time. I am not a long timer but wanted to let you know you are not alone.

Have a great day (almost night for you now).

Maybe the powers that be will let us have an informal gathering at a certain time in the Secular Connections room? Just a thought. I would be game for that.

I think posting is awsome. You can post anywhere. When I realize struggle as me with stuff in their lives make me humble.

I am starting an AVRT group here in SR. I actually started one, but made it private for now. I am not sure what I want to do with it. RR folks aren't supposed to have groups or meetings. So, I was hoping to position this social group more as a help getting started with AVRT.

I want the group to be member supported and not moderated per se.

Just sort of sitting on it for now.

This is why I take issue with "programs". I have concerns with any system that has specified rules when our struggles are purely organic by nature.

Have your meetings, relax and open up in there. Like any program, use their ideas as guideposts and not "rules".

Good luck!

The thing with meetings is that if you become dependant on them they are basically promoting the future use of alcohol.

You have a big plan, but it is contingent on meetings. What happens when there's no meeting?

That being said I still enjoy the support of the forums and use it to stay grounded and focused. I recognize the av in this but am able to reconcile this weakness in my own recovery...at least for now.

I don't think there is anything wrong with an informal chat at a regular time to discuss the ins and outs of AVRT.

my question now is,,, why cant we have our own chat /meetins sometimes??
i know its a "rule" thing,, but come on,,, its not gonna upset me or fxxk up my big plan ,,, its just nice to meet somewhere and have a chat??
geeze i got told off for posting some facts about tests in uk hospitals to one gal,, she was so worried,, and i happen to be a n ex nurse who specialised in that area,,, i dint tell her what to do,, just informed her of possible tests she may encounter,, so she was in the know and not to be scared.
but any hoo,,, thanks and happy thursday all,,, 2 wks for me ,,, still no cravings,, feeling stronger by the day,,, my av can skiddadle for all i care right now xxxxx

Certainly people can gather and enjoy having social meetings without causing problems with more AV.

It's whenever the meetings become conditional requirements to remain alcohol free that additional AV is created. AVRT is not really workable in a group sense. Individuals can of course gather and share whatever for any number of reasons and still preserve essential AVRT.

This entire forum is proof that discussing AVRT experiences and insights is very helpful and rewarding. Being social is quite alright with AVRT, lol.

Nicely done on your two weeks, Cleopatra.

thanks robby,, you are a wise tang innit??
yeh i totally agree ,, im not into groups and love my avrt,, but sometimes i just wanna chat to likeminded peeps on here,, i find im kinda floating,, although thats not a prob at all, i know im on my own and my recovery is personal to me but, its nice to chat to peeps like us,, no stress, just chat??
its kinda contradictory when we are following our own path,, yet there are rules to us not getting together?
is it really that much of a prob?
not to me it aint,, its not gonna deflect my plan one bit,,, just a casual tang,,maybe find some new books or websites ,, i know that if i hadnt chatted to my friend on chat here,, i wouldnt have heard bout avrt or rr,, and thats a good thing right?
well it was for me,,,
thanks all,, robby robot,,, lv that name!!! u sure dont look like a robot tho ,,, haha xx
