This could be. I never really thought of it that way. Addiction character traits, perhaps? What I find interesting is I did this while drinking of course, but complained and whined about my life even when I was sober. When I worked on the symptoms of why I drank, I stopped this behavior. I just no longer had the desire to complain about my life in the same manner. I guess that must have been when I discovered how to become accountable for my behavior and put my anger and resentments behind me. Acceptance is so pivotal in recovery.

Considering the millions upon millions of alcoholics and addicts out there, I'd have to say the odds of them, as a group, sharing personality traits that are not a direct result of addiction, are about the same as those which astrologers profess for people born under a certain "sign".
In case there is any doubt, let me be clear that astrology is nonsense. I am no more likely to share personality traits with someone else born as a Taurus than any random person off the street. Same goes for sharing traits with other alcoholics.

This is amazing. My horoscope this very morning said that you will hear from someone today that will doubt the power of the alignment of the stars and planets. It was right on.
