It was our bin day today too. I’m so glad our recycling bin isn’t full of empty bottles anymore…

Willow that’s one job less nowadays, for me too. Sharing out the recycle so it didn’t look too many bottles in the bins.

Morning Weekenders, yes hiding the empties is a thing of the past.

That is an interesting quote by Douglas Adams, apparently he could never begin a piece of work until he was right up against a deadline. He left us far too soon.

Morning Weekenders

Mags, good luck with the consultant 🤞

Sao, I only really know Douglas Adams from his time as script editor with Doctor Who in 1979 (one of the serials he wrote, City Of Death, is still excellent). I think I may have had a similar problem to Douglas Adams in that at one time I could never begin to do anything unless I was up against a deadline. Thankfully these days I'm a little more organised and better at doing things in advance.

Excellent song by The Pointer Sisters, I bought that as a single back in 1984.

There must be bin day fever hitting SR as it's bin day too for me. Blue bin day, the recycling bin. Thankfully the bin is free from the rattle of empty cans. It is full of old music magazines from the 00s though, I've been having a decluttering session and am trying to rid myself of things I no longer use or read. While I'm not a hoarder, I do tend to hang on to things for far longer than I should "just in case" I ever need them.

Hey, Mags, this is a cool little 24 minute local news show about my the zoo's gorillas.

I saw them yesterday. The "girls" were in a collectively unpleasant mood and each of them reacted in not-so-positive ways to my attentions.

I'm thinking it must be the rainy weather and being stuck together in close quarters, but they obviously did not welcome my friendship offering yesterday.

The video was amazing to watch Bim. Thank you for sharing it. The area your gorillas were in is home from home for them. I loved it and they’re so at home too.

Strange how the girls were not friendly yesterday. They’ll be all over you next visit. Probably.

There's definitely a bit of hierarchy/dominance going on between them and some of us female visitors. We can be either buddies or rivals depending on the group dynamics of the day.

The female keepers are pretty careful even backstage with the adult females. They're temperamental.

It might have been something I did unwittingly, too! They're acting on instinct, and I don't really understand the non-verbal, "rules."

I had more on bins. Oh well.

"Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so." - Douglas Adams.

He wrote the only article on fishing that ever made it sound interesting to me. It was about the Goliath Tigerfish in the lower Congo. An aggressive piscean if ever there was one (Alien - it's double hinged jaws were based on it)

Those Gorillas are so impressive, I'm glad there are people around who care about them.
