Horses for Courses - Weekenders 15 - 18 October 2021
It took me a while to let go of the thought of drinking as something enjoyable - it plainly wasn't for me for many years but it was a strong emotional reaction.
The longer I am sober the more I see less and less to miss out on drinking.
This is the life I was meant to lead

Hi, Weekenders!
Just saying hello- and I enjoyed the Mr. Ed theme MesaMan! He was an important part of my childhood- and I was lucky enough that my mom had a palomino when I was a kid. She would pick me up from kindergarten on him.
Leadhatter- you are doing great with 26 days- keep going!

"Life is difficult.
This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult-once we truly understand and accept it, then life is no longer difficult.
Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters."
Scott Peck, The Road Less Traveled (1978)
Have a good day ☼

Good Morning and Happy Mulligan Day. If ever there was a day for quitting booze and giving yourself a second chance then Mulligan Day must be it.
Welcome to Weekenders LeadHatter, congratulations on 26 days, hopefully it is 27 by now. As others have suggested it is not worth dwelling on the daunting nature of 'forever.' Forever happens an hour at a time rather than one huge unit.
Mags, congratulations on passing 3000 days sobering! Woo hoo!
Sending positive vibes to you and Alfie, Kaily. You're doing really well.
Your bonsai tree is very impressive CaptainHaddock, they must take patience and dedication.
Making Kombucha is a great idea, I had not heard of it two years ago and since it has been widely available it is pricey here.
I had a long drive home from the West Country yesterday (work) I have lots of things I need to do today and little inclination to do them.

Thanks everyone (Dee, VikingGF, saoutchik) for your support and encouragement. I’ve made it to 27. 🙂
Kaily sorry to hear your feeling depressed and anxious. I can relate. I’ve private messaged you a link.

Scott Peck, "The Road Less Traveled" (1978) - great book, CK. I should dig that out.
I'm going to go ahead and blame the Universe for my decreased energy in the past couple/few weeks. I believe I'm going into Northern Hemisphere hibernation. Bed time keeps getting earlier and earlier!
Happens every year. More food, more sleep, more clothes, seems pretty predictable! Snuggling in. Break out the bottle of Vitamin D. I have a full pantry and I still have hot water so I'm pretty grateful.

The local team did manage a win at Tottenham stadium yesterday by way of a long field goal and they appear to have been very excited it on the local news this morning. I don't really follow NFL, but it's good to see that they got a win.

good afternoon. We had a great trip down to the Keys and 0 alcohol !
I even slept until almost 8 one morning and that never happens to me. Plus my Dawgs got another W.
I really wanted a mimosa or 10 on Saturday morning but didn't cave in.

Hi everyone
Leadhatter I have to do sobriety one day at a time too. Thoughts of forever seem so daunting.
I hit 5 months sober on the weekend and it was purely one day at a time. Some days are easier than others, some I really struggle.
Hugs Kaily. Down days suck
At least we know they will pass.
I love kombucha, it’s my go to drink. And it’s great for gut health, which helps mental health. Maybe I should make some too 🤔
