We could write a book Weekenders 19-22 March 2021 WEEKENDERS
Welcome to the Weekenders
If I were to write a book some of my pages would be sealed. They would be ‘before booze’ life. Some parts are best left in the past.
What would be revealed though are many many empty pages, waiting for words to be written on them.
This is my ‘after booze’ life. I realise I can choose the words to some extent.
This can be an enthralling part of my book, full of hope for what lies ahead.
I realise we can’t chose everything in life but choosing sobriety gives us an opportunity to write our days ahead to enjoy our lives the best we can.
If this is your first weekend sober, or many, come join us for support and chat...as we know the weekends can be a struggle sometimes.
(Psst. We’re not just here to talk about the good stuff, if you’re struggling.....shout out).
(We’re here all week too!)
Thanks Mags, I’m in for a sober weekend!
Kaily, I hope your doctor’s appointment goes well. Something tells me you knew you’d get shotgun today . I’m fond of the Simpson’s as well.
Good to see you too Vinny.

Captain, I saw a vacancy not being filled, searched for a picture thinking someone would beat me to it and jumped in.
Not a book but the other day I read back a lot of my old threads. It made me sad. Reading it reminded me just how desperate and at times suicidal I was, but also how I couldn't find a way out. I kind of felt sad for me, not in a self pity way but as maybe an outsider - hard to explain what I mean. Some of the one liners pleading for help were typed with utter desperation and loneliness. I felt that pain again. I went back to that terrible place in my mind.
Anyway I'm not there now, for that I am grateful.

Thanks Mags. I'm IN for an 8th consecutive sober weekend. It's the first proper weekend of spring too, based on the vernal equinox, which is 9.37am UTC on Saturday 20 March. It's also the first proper weekend of autumn in the southern hemisphere. It's also my birthday on Saturday!
Kaily, I love the Simpsons gif!

Thanks for asking, Robbie!
I'm actually writing two... One is a psychological thriller set on the coast of Northern Norway, in a tiny village completely isolated due to the weather. A little girl disappears and a woman is convinced she is possessed by a supernatural creature called Draugen.
The other one is aimed at children 10-12 years of age. A girl downloads an app on her phone, where she is contacted by a dead boy who wants her help to find out who killed him. More like sci-fi/mystery crime.

Hope you're doing well today xxxx
Hi Lixie, I hope the book writing is going well. Sounds great.
Mags, thank goodness you didn't hit one of the deer. My wife has hit two, not good.
V, nice jigsaw.
Kaily and Bimini, it could have been me with the squirrel maize. I remember it well. The frame by frame analyzes of the squirrel being catapulted. The taste test of various nuts.
Kaily, I just had results of blood work yesterday for the first time since quitting. Triglycerides were down, LDL cholesterol was up. There is a statin and less fried fish in my future. I've read back over some of my old posts a couple of times and can remember what a dark world I was living in. There were thoughts that if I had a crash and died, it wouldn't be so bad. Back then, I could never have imagined how much better it would be without alcohol.
MLD and Vic, there is some Irish ancestry in my family. Whenever I read about Irish culture, there seems to be numerous similarities with the local culture where I grew up (rural Florida). Corned beef and cabbage on St Patrick's day was not a thing though, but then neither was cinco de mayo, or any number of other similar events.
Vic, I get a kick out of the ridiculous comments that people make in those reviews sections.
PJ, there are some non native birds that look like solid green loriketes that have established wild populations in parts of south Florida. There was supposedly a similar native bird in Florida that was completely wiped out by a terrible cold freeze some time in the 1800s.
