Round to it this weekend? - 02-05 October 2020 Weekenders
Welcome to the Weekenders
Many of my weekends were wasted drinking until I blacked out. Until enough was enough.
If this is your first weekend sober, or many, come join us for support and chat...as we know the weekends can be a struggle sometimes. (We’re here all week too!)
Round to it this weekend?
If this is the weekend you’ve decided
And you’ve pondered for long enough,
It feels like the worlds have collided, and
You’ve had enough of this crazy stuff
If this is the weekend you’ve decided
And you’ve pondered for long enough,
Too many times have been blighted
Making the days ahead too tough
If this weekend you woke up and wondered
‘How did I get in this mess?’
‘I want my days less hindered
Of all this crapulousness’
If this weekend you’re thinking
‘Can I ever cut loose?’
Is there a life after drinking?
My body has had enough abuse
This weekend can be different
It can all be left behind,
The nausea, headaches, blackouts
There’s life after booze, you’ll find.

Thanks, Mags.
I'm in.
I decorated Jobu's new tank last night with some artificial vines and clear suction cups.
He seems to like it. More inviting, less sterile looking.
Have a great weekend, everyone.

Crapulousness, what a fabulous word!
And thanks Vinny and Sao
Congrats on shotgun Reid
Lunar, Jobu looks pretty relaxed and happy
Freedom I can’t believe it’s October already either!
Sao we call it Ocsober, but it amounts to the same, booze-free October.
Count me in

Thanks Mags and hello Weekenders
Count me in for a sober weekend.
Ocsober, I like that one Willow. The NHS in the UK is running its annual Stoptober campaign, aimed at getting people to stop smoking. Maybe they could also run a Ocsober campaign too.
October is my favourite month of the year and it's started in bright sunshine though it's very cold outside. Unfortunately the weather forecast isn't looking too good for the weekend but as long as I can get outside for a few walks I don't care!

So true, no matter if we are new to SR and wanting to get well , or like me after 2 years sober and relapsed, your words are so powerful .
I'm so blessed to have friends who love me and are by my side as im trying to get well.
Those who are new , stick close.
There are so many wonderful people here at the ready to help newbies and those of us who have faltered.
NO judgement here, just friends and like minded people sho want to help us and see us well .
Thanks everyone who is encouraging, has messaged me, rang me and basically just been there for me .
This is the place to be on our way back to wellness, which is what we ALL want x x
Special thanks to Mags & Pj xxx

I'm in!
Welcome, Phil and finalcall.
I get to see my daughter today! I'm picking her up from the dorm today to take her to a doctor's appointment (she's not sick, it's a routine lab work thing). Then tomorrow she has an orthodontia appointment, so she needs to spend the night at home tonight.
I'm happy I get to have her at home for a night. I asked if she wanted to stay longer, but she wants to go back after the orthodontia appt. tomorrow afternoon. I haven't gotten many satisfying updates from her via text, so I'm hoping to find out how thing are ACTUALLY going. When I text and ask all I get is a typical teenager response that things are OK.
Other than that I really have no plans this weekend except for probably yard work. 'Tis the season to clean up the yard. I'll probably make sure my snow blower is ready for winter too. It needs an oil change. Not exciting. Might squeeze a hike in at some point too. Typical sober weekend. Getting stuff done, taking care of responsibilities.
