Morning Weekenders

Internet been playing. Just got back on. it’s been a pain lately. Soooo slow. Hubby rang internet provider and they’re going to try to fix it. I won’t hold my breath!

Bim, interesting art work. I keep seeing it as different things too!
Carrots! Really, I thought you were joking Kaily. Maybe they’ll add it to Saou’s pic and have a carrot cake.

CityBoy, interesting to know your doc’s surgery is running the trials. Another few months and they should’ve broke through the vaccine...hopefully.

There’s some seriously weird artwork out there....
I thought Bim’s pic looked like some kind of alien spawn too....
And I do hope someone got to eat those carrots... some squirrels or donkeys or pigs or something....
Maybe all of the above and then some lol, that’s an awful lot of carrots!

I’m off camping for the long weekend and won’t have phone reception, so I won’t be around for a few days.
Technology free for a few days will do me the world of good
I’ll be relaxing out in the bush, watching the moon and toasting marshmallows on the campfire
Sleeping in a tent (snake and spider proof!) and climbing some hills and bushwalking during the day.
Have a lovely weekend.

Happy Friday!

I would argue that the artwork bim posted has nicely fulfilled its purpose. Here we are talking about it, trying to figure out what it "is" and seeing different things in it. We are thinking about it, and that might just be the entire point. I'm a bit of an art nerd. The carrots in the street - same thing. It's a way to get people thinking/talking about something. If you study art history (I did, in college for a bit), you find out that a lot of what we consider "standard" art now was meant to shock and get people worked up and was considered quite scandalous and awful at the time. That having been said, I don't excuse all of these types of things just because they are "edgy" and thought-provoking. Sometimes a stunt is just a stunt. OK, art history lecture over.

On a different topic, interesting news today. I will not get into it, so as not to run afoul of the rules here. I'll just say one word. KARMA.

It is nice to have my daughter home. She is doing well at college so far. Staying caught up on schoolwork, getting along with her roommate, eating and sleeping, meeting a few people (that's hard because of Covid). I can't wish for anything more! I'll take her back this evening after her orthodontia appointment.

I also was an art history student, and absolutely that seal/salmon (my interpretation) installation is thought provoking.

I'd just prefer it to be less ambiguous. Like, there is a gum wall in Seattle. It's a wall that everyone sticks their chewed gum on. Supposed to be artsy/kitchy. All I see is germs.

On topic. :nods: Wear a mask!...

Yeah, I'm with you on the gum wall. I can't see that as "art." ewwwww

I just googled the gum wall - apparently they scraped and pressure washed it clean in 2015.

I haven't been down that alley in years. After you've seen it once, that's enough, IMO

Sao got the good side of that whipped cream thing in Trafalgar Square, too. It has huge bugs on it if you google that thing.

The elephant in the room, kaily?
But I suppose you had your own elephant there, too.

Meh, it was just a matter of time. Probably for all of us, to be honest.

It's not like this virus is hard to catch.

Those 🥕 carrots are going to be used as animal feed Leigh, that's something that was bugging me. You're right MLD, it got people talking. I hope they are not still there we have had a lot of rain in London today.

I didn't know about the bugs on the other side of that whipped cream thing! There was actually a small demonstration taking place next to it concerning Nigeria - you can see some of them in my pic - otherwise I would have taken a closer look. Btw I know nothing of the issues involved in the demo but they were the best singers of any protest I have ever heard.

I hope everyone is keeping well.

So, pretty cool.

The whipped cream thing - it's a fly and a drone clinging to the sides.

You can look on your phone and see what the drone is seeing. I guess that means you could have gotten up close and personal with those protestors.

Whew, glad to hear it. That's a lot of carrots to waste.
I've been having annoying little drinking thoughts the past few days. Squashing them with food and activity. I am alone today (daughter went to visit other daughters) which always triggers the AV to start yapping. So I think I'll be staying home today.

Erica stay close and ignore the pesky AV.

Mines been playing up today as well. I don't so much fancy a drink as want to lose all feeling, I want some numbness. It will pass.

I like the cream sculpture, I tried the link to watch on my phone but it said the content was unavailable. Might be cause I tried on my laptop.

Nothing like a protest with good singers

Apparently some of the carrots were being taken by locals. Good for them.

Yeah, I don't think that drone video feed is working on - a PC at least.

Someone tell me to stop going to Healthline for diagnoses... dangit. I know better.

Can’t do this. Trying to pretend coronavirus is not an issue, can’t talk politics....can’t bring myself to talk about other stuff pretending this is not happening. It’s really getting to me...

Been told another 6 months of this at least, drinking again!

Just can’t survive another 6 months alone, what is the point?
