Hi Kels, your story is how I started drinking 'badly' about 10 years ago on & off. If you recognise its a problem then it is. This is my 3rd go at getting sober...almost 40 days now (2 previous stints lasting 6 months each) same as u I reward myself after a tough day or celebrate after a good day!!!
if u want to stop, then do everything u can to do that.
This forum is great, I posted here a lot last yr & stupidly drifted away thinking I was ok....I should've stayed, there are all sorts of people here, no judgment, tons of experiences & its just nice to know ur not alone!! Good luck!x

I drank but only a few. I’m absolutely annoyed with myself but I’ll try again.

The holidays are just around the corner. That will give you further opportunities to test your mettle.

Hi Kels,

It’s been two weeks since we’ve heard from you. How’s it going?

Hi I’m ok thanks, I’ve had one night of drinking I don’t have an excuse. But I was so ill after it’s put me off, I’ve not had a drink for a week now.

It made me smile when you said “I don’t have an excuse.” As I see it, that’s the second best answer to why? Its implication suggests the best answer. “I wanted to experience that wonderful, deeply pleasurable (*) upside of a drunk all over again.”

Be careful. Odds are that consequences will go beyond just “I was so ill” as “the next time”s pile up; or you could simply decide to quit for good, put drinking behind you, and get on with life.
