Take a Break this weekend - Weekenders 31 July - 03 August 2020
Yep, I'm fairly calm about the whole thing now. There was initial panic, but I am taking the one-thing-at-a-time approach now, because I cannot do more than that without losing it. And I can't control most of it anyway.
Thanks for the well wishes and support, SoberLeigh and Bim. I don’t ever intend to go back, but this quit has been quite smooth. Only the first 3 days or so were hard. Even on those days I felt better than when drinking.
These are stressful times, MLD. I know this all will pass, but if you are more or less in the last third or so of your career it’s not that easy to just move on and start anew, once you are out of job. I’m not quite there, at least I don’t think so, but it is a worrying thought that does cross my mind from time to time. As you said, you can’t really change what you can’t control (except of course in the context of alcoholism).

Hi, weekenders.
Tomorrow is a new thread starting.
Let's finish this with some fitness splash!
I am doing 2 minutes of plank today.
See you tomorrow!

I am maybe 5 or 6 years from a time when retirement would be comfortable. I just need to try to hang on that long. I'd be ok retiring at 62 (5 years from now) but 64 or 65 would be better. So yeah, starting anew isn't really much of an option. People don't want to hire 57 year-olds.
Morning Weekenders
I went out for lunch yesterday! Yeah I know! It felt very safe. Hardly anyone in the restaurant and tables well spaced. And an added bonus, meals and soft drinks were just about half price due to an August Monday to Friday deal the government have given restaurants to encourage us to eating out.
See you later, new thread coming up in a while. (Inspired by MidnightBlue).
