Soberly it Goes, Weekenders 15 - 18 May 2020
Venus,
Are you using a phone to take the videos, if so what type?--
or are you using a digital camera and processing the video with software?
I don't think it's a YouTube issue, but I don't know for sure.
I can see the surrounding area in the thumbnail, before actually playing your video, then it disappears.
I've seen this "effect" on television quite often.
Trying to research it.

It is probably a much better idea than spending stupid money on a phone.
well, I tried - at least you know what landscape means now
Turmeric! There was a guy who stayed at the hotel where I was housekeeping manager who was doing some kind of turmeric treatment. He ruined a bunch of towels, and we had to charge him for them (he was very apologetic, if not a slob).
I don't know if we'll ever get back to our vacation spot in Hawaii. My wife was going there even when she lived in Hawaii, and we have spent a week there the past three Decembers. But it's a very expensive trip, about $10,000, and I just don't see that kind of extra cash coming my way. I canceled my October train trip to San Diego for an internet forum gathering with a few days of riding public transit. I had paid $871 for a small private room on Amtrak, and got a full refund. I canceled all my hotels, including a $450 "urban room" (without a sofa or view--the building next door is twenty feet away) at the Embassy Suites right across the street from the train station in Seattle. There must be an event or something--I previously paid $299 for a water-view corner studio. I had restrained myself by booking @$150 per night hotel rooms for the rest of the trip, and was not going to upgrade to a deluxe room on Amtrak. Anyway, also waiting to hear if our Steely Dan-Steve Winwood concert on June 4 will be canceled. They're still selling tickets.
We went to the Seattle Aquarium on our way to Hawaii two years ago, and my wife kept commenting about all the kid's being around and how we certainly would catch some sort of disease. We're not city folk...
The shellfish farm where I work(ed) is hiring clam diggers for $23 an hour for ten days only. I don't think I'm physically up for digging clams, but there may be some oyster sorting to do. I hope I don't get asked to work in the store (which was my job in the past), because I don't want to expose myself to customers.
Best wishes to everyone!

The beaches in that area, especially on Anna Maria, are really great.
My wife and I were walking the beach at night and saw a lady kneeling down. She was a sea turtle volunteer patrol lady and was watching a hatchling emerging from its nest. It was pretty cool to watch.
With a dash of Louisiana hot sauce on a saltine cracker is my normal way to eat oysters. That definitely sounds worth trying though.

Beautiful beach lunar. I could live on a beach like that, in a small place, be a bit nesh in winter maybe. .
CityBoy, that sounds lovely, watching the turtle hatch.
Take care and be safe. xx

morning all. Happy Monday.
a bright sunny morning again here. I had a good weekend - I'm a bit peopled out now though just from not having seen anyone for six weeks or however long it was, & then suddenly seeing other humans over the weekend. I'm a bit sunburned too from being outside so much - lol.
hope everyone made it through the weekend safely.

A few more places are reopening today now. I've been feeling a bit better the last few days, I probably won't be back on the road for a while still. My new PC
arrived on Friday so spent the weekend messing around with that mainly.

Kaily,
Living close to the Chesapeake Bay, Bull and Oyster Roasts are a big thing. The oysters at those functions are usually raw and eaten with hot sauce; I would eat a dozen or more of them - loved them, or so I thought. The hot sauce ran out the last time I attended such a function so I had the oyster without hot sauce - what a surprise when I discovered that I didn’t like the oysters - AT ALL. I only liked the hot sauce.

Happy Monday, sober mates!
Landscapers are at my house now, ripping out all of the old plants, taking out my front steps and front sidewalk. It's quite exciting! This is a project that is lonnnnggggggg overdue. When it's all done and I have new sidewalk, steps, and plants, I will make an album of before and after pictures. I'm only having the front and one side of the house done this year. I will leave one side of the house with no landscaping, just grass growing right up to the house like it is now. But I do have a fairly large project planned for the back of the house, which I will do next year or the year after, depending on some financial things.
Jobu is quite the cool cat, er, frog, Lunar.
Kitoko is just so beautiful. I'm glad you get to keep up with his development on the blog, Bim.
I know there are other posts I should comment on, but I'll have to go back and read the thread again... I can't remember what I read 15 minutes ago! I should takes notes as I go.
