I was one of the biggest skeptics/critics of AA and the 12 steps possible until I had it put to me in certain terms I could identify with. They've basically all been said here already.
Is there something wrong with a form of self improvement? I could equate it to a number of cliche'd sayings or what I see in a lot of religious people; Let go, don't white knuckle life, and put faith in something larger than yourself. Because you can't control everything no matter how hard you try. And there's certainly no harm in recognizing and apologizing to those you F'd over LOL

I barely remember those days of going to mass and watching the priest face the alter and say it in Latin.
