A Different Path
I just love today's post - filled with such insight & wisdom. I was just thinking yesterday - I wonder if Kathy might be tempted to 'have a few'. Now I know the answer without asking.
Gilmer I love how your family use humour to connect and to ease the impact.
Q) what do you get if you cross an elephant with a peanut butter sandwich?
A) a sandwich that never forgets - or, an elephant that sticks to the roof of your mouth!

Gilmer, I hadn't been to Newcomers in quite some time, but I went to lurk last night and learned about the new turn in your life's map.
I don't know you well by many measures but I can say that your name was one of those I was excited to see when I recently swept down into the March '13ers.
Part of the reason for that is that I remember how much your presence meant to me when my dear Argus was dying and I posted a series of essays the week we were to say goodbye. You wrote some very kind and supportive words that made me not only feel better about what was to come, but better about myself as a human being. They were words I really needed to hear then.
From what I have read from other SR folks who are posting to your thread, the words you've written to them have brought similar comfort.
Thank you for sharing your news and your ideas and thoughts with SR. I still have about 12 more pages before I am caught up, but I want to read every one of them. But I didn't want to wait until I had read them all to post my own.
I did Google the Scotch Shower, and found a blog entry that showed some of the Greenbrier's interiors. Wow. What a feast for the eyes. And the Scotch Shower, well, now that's on my bucket list!

Sometimes I am overwhelmed with his mercy, and I feel very small in God’s presence.
I feel like Peter when he came face to face with just a shadow of God’s glory: “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”
Luke 5: 8b

There are o words adequate for the situation, Gilmer. I'm so sorry that you're facing this but grateful that you aren't facing it alone. I'll be holding out hope no matter what. Selfishly I want to take the chance to tell you that you've always been an inspiration and a light in the dark for so many. If there's even some small thing we can do just say the word.
That song just brought me to tears. Thanks so much for sharing. (I saved it) . I couldn't find the comment by Havard Melsnes from Norway.
I hope you have a relaxing, stress free day today.

I thought of you, this morning, Kathy, as I watched the sun rise over the river. I thought of something Rumi wrote, I will try to find the exact words, but the gist is that a sunset is not the loss of the sun because as it sets here, it rises somewhere else and a new day begins.
You are a bright light of inspiration and I just wanted to share that and tell you again that I love you.
Enjoy your day!!

I'm a big fan of MercyMe. I linked that video in your Christian Music thread a while back! Still a really great song.
He wrote the song while dealing with the helplessness he felt in dealing with his son's diabetes. It's such a beautiful song. Crank it up!
"Jesus I will cling to you come what may."
