The news headlines here are all about THE furore between Aussie and Phillipine Basketball players. King hits, players being held down and kicked, officials and audience getting involved- and people being hit with chairs. After a time, the match continued with reduced numbers of players- until the Phillipine side only had one player on court, so the match was stopped.

Ooh! I have never been to an opera but that match gave me some idea if what a comic opera might be like. Still, Engand winning on penalties must mean the Apocalypse is just around the corner. Most of the people near me could not bear to watch the penalty shoot out even though it was only a last 16 match. The Colombians were very marginally more histrionic than England so 4-3 was about right .

Has anyone else the impression that the referees are under enormous pressure and bullying in this world cup. In some matches the intimidation they receive is nuts....
It makes me think of a little rugby referee from france called Jérôme Garces who I consider the world's best and how he reigns authority over a match despite 130 and 140 kg giants. Charismatic presence maybe, go figure...

Hey Midnight. Thank you for asking about me. 
It’s 6am here, so I’m still in bed, browsing SR half asleep on my phone. Feeling like crap, but that’s to be expected heh.
My mum is coming to visit tomorrow (first time ever since I moved to Scotland - she lives in Germany), she’s gonna stay with us for a week and I’m getting nervous... we haven’t seen each other in two years and I’m a mess, mad, fat and broken. It’s gonna take me forever trying to clean my flat today...

I need to finally clean my apartment too - since there is no soccer today I may start commenting on that.
