Weekender 18-22 January, 2018– The Great Escape
Welcome to Weekenders and SR Finalround. Good thinking on having a plan, I too have a 50th birthday to go to, my cousin's, on Saturday It is a lunchtime "do" with his wife and children and a few family and friends as he hates "fuss" There will be booze consumed but not much.
Glad to see you BixBees and MidnightBlue, sorry to read about your respective illness and injury. I hope things are better for you both.
I may go ten pin bowling tonight but I will have to see how my ankle holds out - I turned it about 10 days ago and it is healing pretty well, I don't want to set it back. A few of my friends are doing 'dry' January which will make things easier for me.
Edit. I don't want to wish my life away but it is 4.35pm here, one hour from hometime. COME ON!

WOW, so good to see everyone! It's been months since I had a few moments to me. I'm giggling at your opener Dee. My deferred date in court finally passed 2 weeks ago and this week I signed up for my alternative sentencing weekend in February. I wouldn't actually call it jail. I'll be staying at a local high school doing painting and cleaning from a Friday evening through Sunday evening.
I'm reflecting on how I came back here in May of 2016 and where my head was at. The awfulness of what had happened. Dee, I remember pming you about it and you telling me I'd make it through and I did.
I'm now at 20 months happily sober, also a bit over 3 months cigarette free.
I made it through one of the worst things I've ever been through and I'm here to say that along as you don't drink there are better days ahead.
I was sober from May 2013 through the end of October 2014 and went back out. Made it back here in May 2016. Let me tell you, there isn't anything good out there.
SR is one of my biggest sobriety tools. As crazy as life can be I may not post often but I do read. You guys keep me together.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

So glad you are doing so well....I went back out there in August 14, and how I made it back here is a miracle that I will never quite reconcile.
I don't know what happened love.....but I am glad you are on the other side of this now....you are right of course, as long as you don't drink there are definitely better days ahead. ♥

Great to see you LadyBlue! The painting and decorating gig in February doesn't sound too bad and might even be fun. Congratulations on 20 months sober and 3 months cig free, that is a wonderful achievement.
I am going to go to the bowling alley for a while but have decided not to bowl as it is my left ankle that I but my weight and twist on as I am right handed (why did that not occur to me earlier?)
Edit. I meant to say, I could see World Heavyweight Boxing Champion (well one of them) in the distance in my local park earlier doing an open air workout with a load of school kids as part of something called the "Made to Move" campaign to encourage physical health. I hope MidnightBlue reads this.

I should have mentioned his name, it was Anthony Joshua.
Came back fairly early from bowling, not drinking is harder without the distraction of some form of activity.
Bedtime for me. Good luck to all my fellow abstainers.

Good morning, Solarion!
My tenants and their guest, who has also become my friend, have a really cool place they go to breakfast—big, elaborate buffet.
They’ve invited me to brunch there today.
So naturally I’m taking them up on it!

Checking in with you all. Hope you are having a wonderful and restful weekend. Mine began with a hitch in the form of a frustrating day followed by some bad news--a rejection for a work-related thing. Exactly the kind of thing which is usually a trigger for me. But not this weekend! I'm staying in the light because I know the world has lots of good news to give me too. And I want to to be sober and open to receiving it when it gets here
