I used to enjoy writing, but in my drinking days all I could manage was short stories. I knew once I quit drinking and my brain fuzz vegan to clear, that I wanted to try writing something longer. I've completed six novels now and only because I am sober. I am so proud of my work, I'm no Dostoyevsky, but it's mine, every darned word!

The put up the price of our rail tickets in the new year and to rub it in I think they have been disrupted on at least 50% of my journeys.

I have heard of Patsy Cline but don't know much about her.

Enjoy your walk and Starbucks GmS.

That is the actual one VMan, three years work. I was a very reluctant seller but it had to be done.

Morning all, happy Friday. My decorations will be coming down this weekend too, and put away in the attic.

Hi, Toots and Saskia!

After the ridiculously cold temperatures of the last two weeks, yesterday had a high of nearly 60 F (16 C).

Was it pleasantly warm where you are, too, GrantMeSerenity?

Like the first day of spring here!

On Wednesday a guest arrived at my house from Sydney. We made many bold plans.

Yesterday she slipped and fell on my hardwood stairs and broke her foot so severely that she’s going to need surgery! What a disaster on her second day here!

She didn’t get much sleep on the plane trip or Wednesday night, so I hope she was able to get some sleep last night.

Ouch. Gilmer sorry about your friend. Puts a damper on things for sure.

Grantmeserenity I believe SR has a Fitbit group, I am not in it due to my privacy paranoia, but you could look into that

Toots what do you write about? Are they on line?

Not sure what the world has in store for me today, she likes to keep me guessing

I was always an active alcoholic who tried to do my hobbies and activities while drinking. It would always seem like a great idea. The dialogue in my head would go something like this: "I want to dig a new garden bed over there. I'll just go buy some beer and I will just have a refreshing sip here and there. Lots of people do yard work with a beer. It's normal."

Then I would chug an entire 6 pack in 2 hours and be unable to finish the job I started. My hobbies and passions were suffering terribly while I was drunk and it was making me sad in turn to realize that I could no longer complete things that I started.

Great post. Thanks!!

Hi Weekenders. So I come home today and my wife informed me that it is warmer outside than in the house. Yeah, I keep the thermostat on the lower end of the comfort spectrum - $$$$. So when it's 65 inside and 68 (+20) outside the second week of January, you just nod because you know it's going back down in the twenties tonight - that's minus five-ish for the rest of the world.

This one's live radio from back in the day. Back then, they didn't get to use studio tricks. They had to be good.

Yesterday at the job I got tired of whatever rock was on and found 'classic country' to listen to. Heard a couple Patsy Cline tunes (Crazy) and some other OLD country greats - refreshing. Can't stand the 'new' country music - nothing more than pre-programed 'pop with a twang' for the spending masses.

Trach, would love to do some fishing down south this year. Family moved back home this past fall, but wife thinks it a good idea to get a camper - a rolling motel.

“Crazy” was written by Willie Nelson.

Brain, c'mon down. There must be 40 or 50places to camp and fish around Lake Oconee.
