Finally going to ask for help
Take care of yourself sweetiepie. There were some days early on where the only thing I felt like doing was sorting laundry. But, even small tasks create a sense of accomplishment. Accomplishment is good

Keep up the not drinking part.
Since you're not taking the rehab route, nor gotten a therapist, and are more concerned about what your friends will think, what is your plan to get and stay sober? You said you've struggled to stop for 4-5 years now. What are you going to do differently this time?

Hi sweetie and a belated welcome to you. I understand what you mean about not wanting to declare your sobriety just yet. I too had made so many promises to cut back or not drink and then ended up doing it anyway. I was embarrassed to say it yet again. So I now generally don't talk about it. I say I don't drink but don't really get into it.
Regarding your rehab questions, rehab was one of the best things i have ever done for me. Not just the help getting sober- which was obviously the number one goal of my stay there, but just taking a month away to do it. I got into good habits of eating well and regularly, sleeping on a regular schedule and had a chance to meet several times a week with the psychologist there to talk about other issues. It took me a long time- too long- to bite the bullet and go but I am so glad I did. I kept a running thread throughout my stay there if you are interested.
