Sober for 7 days!

I want to write this to help anyone out there struggling. I have been an alcoholic for too many years. I am young and going to be a nurse. My life has been perfect but I was granted this disease and dont want to die. I think I hit rock bottom last week and stopped after on my own. Dangerous yes! I simply felt like I had the worst flu of my life for 3 days. I will recommend to anyone vitamins. You need them and will wake up smiling. $35 for L-glutamine is worth the two bottles you miss. I am only struggling with the saddness this all brings. I can offer advice on diet and vitamins. I know they work! 8 days later you feel real and scared. I want to help and give support

Thanks! I hope you find the support you need here at SR. I, too, believe in vitamins and proper nutrition. Glad you are here. Good luck with your nursing degree. It is such a wonderful profession. Tell us more about your journey! ♡CR

I will! Need to complete this journey first. Even with help from loved ones they don't understand so I need those who do.

I'm coming up on 1 week sober since I'm at 5 days...this is rough as I can't stop thinking about my last binge...the shame takes me back to wanting to drink again, but I don't want to make another bad memory. So every minute of every day has been tough so far.

Your journey will be your own consisting
of ESH - experiences, strengths and hopes
of what you life was and is like, before, during
and after alcohol addiction.

Many journal, write in a journal each day
to record their ESH on a daily bases. Maybe
you can treat yourself to a pretty journal
or diary to write in at the end of the day
or when ever you have thoughts or feeling.

I began my journey at the age of 30,
married and 2 beautiful little babies,
a boy and girl, haven completed a 28
instay rehab and 6 week aftercare and
beginning my new journey in life and
recovery.

I just celebrated 27 yrs of continuous
sobriety on Aug. 11th and no, I'm not
cured of this illness, but I did put it to
rest on that day back in 1990. This addiction
will remain dormant as long as don't
drink, continue to incorporate what
was taught to me in AA in all my affairs
to continue achieving health, happiness
and honesty and many more awesome
rewards in life and recovery.

You've got your whole life ahead
of you and by the choice you made
in becoming a nurse, a nurse living
her life with a recovery foundation
to live upon, you are blessed and
will continue to be so with so many
you will be helping down the road.

Stay strong and sober each day
moving forward.

Princess,
We can all get you through this! Someone is always here for you 24/7. That is what makes SR so special. There is nowhere that someone else hasn't been before. There is nothing that is surprising to most of us. The support is here! How comforting is that! So whatever you are experiencing just let it out. You are among friends. It is a good thing to do and a great place to be! Welcome!♡

I too am coming up on one week sober...Sunday was my start. I'm also young (23), and I'm glad to see more young people here. I think all too often heavy drinking to the point of addiction is normalized in young people, I know it was for me.

We can do this! I'm just so glad we realized it now before it was 10/20/30 years down the line or worse.

Good luck! Feel free to hit me up if you ever wanna chat.

Princess.....I have Princess tattoo'd on
my arm because it is what my husband
refers me to as. So I have to smile when
I see your name, Princess78.

You said you wish you were young.

Well, let me see if I can explain it to
you like it was explained to me when
I entered recovery. The age I started
drinking was around 17 which is when
my drinking career began. It was slow
in the beginning but progressed over
the yrs to where it became out of
control and I actually had no control
to end it alone. When I entered rehab
I was 30 yrs old which is when I put
my addiction Tiger to sleep.

When i started drinking my emotional
growth stopped at that age. Then when
i stopped drinking at the age of 30, my
emotional growth began to grow at the
age of 17 when i began drinking.

Today at 58, let me tell you that i
don't look nor feel like I am actually
that age. My emotions are still growing
because my emotional growth
started 27 yrs ago when i got sober.

I don't know if that make sense or not??

Anyway, think about when you started
drinking, and when you stopped. Since you
are newly sober, allow time for your mind
and body to settle down because of the abuse
your body has sustained from poison.

Right now, you may feel wiped out, aged,
worn out due to the effects of poison to
you mind and body. Eventually things
will balance out and you will begin to
feel and look young again.

Remember age is just a number.

Princess - I would suggest seeking treatment if you can afford it or have insurance. I am in an outpatient treatment program that is helping me turn the corner. I'm starting to get into AA, too.

It's incredibly hard to do it on your own. Take the wisdom, experience, and guidance of others if you can!

welcome

I should remind everyone that you should really see your doctor before starting any supplements.

Whats worked for someone else may not work or even be suitable for you.

I know you're new princess - no harm, no foul

D
