Good Morning, checking in for Sober Saturday!

The usual list for today, groceries, housework, and then the evening is all mine.

Maybe in for some Chinese food tonight. Or possibly some Pad Thai. Movie of the evening hasn't been decided yet.

Going for a walk this afternoon with a friend that I haven't seen in a while. Looking forward to it.

All of you in the US keep an eye on Hurricane Matthew. This is now a category 5 storm that looks like it will hit land somewhere between Georgia and the Carolinas and then track up the east coast.

Have a great day everyone!

Morning folks. Happy sober Saturday. Jo and Zanna, you had me grinning with the thought of Gollum muttering those three S's whilst slinking about the edges of my consciousness.

I was up kinda late last night watching the. New Luke Cage season on Netflix. For those who haven't been around lately, I'm a bit of a comic nerd, so I'm a sucker for pretty much any comic book show out there. I watched the first three episodes and called it a night just before midnight.

Woke up with my 7yo daughter at my bedside at 4am, having an asthma attack. She's had it since she was a baby, and we have all the medicines and supplies, so I got up and gave her a treatment and got her settled back in bed. She was up again at 5; more medicine. Up again crying at 5:30, still unable to breathe. My wife got up and took her to the ER, where she is now. I hope they can get it controlled, otherwise she'll have to be admitted to the hospital. We've been through this before. My wife and I are both asthmatics, and all of our kids have it to some degree or another, so we know the drill. Doesn't help with the worry, though.

So I'm up with some coffee on little sleep last night. Going to work on painting the kitchen. We've got to get it done so we can finally get the floors installed (we've been walking on painted subfloor for a while now, and we're sick of it). Painting the busiest room in the house is a challenge--It's not like you can just move everything around for a couple of days to get it done. You've got to keep using it!

Hope everyone's having a great Saturday morning. Peace weekenders.

So sorry to hear about your daughter U75 - how scary. Hope she feels better soon.

After checking in with SR, I am launching myself out of bed and am planning on tackling the day - starting with a run. Still reflecting on Dee's original post for the weekend.

Best to all - Pan

I'm sorry about your daughter, U. My oldest had severe asthma at 9 months old, and in the 80s they kept misdiagnosing it. Over the course of the next decade (and as she got older), they did manage to treat her correctly.

But I spent quite a few spells with her in the hospital recliner after ER visits that turned into admissions.

She did outgrow the super-severe attacks by the time she was 16. Now she hardly ever even wheezes!

Good morning, weekenders! I'm getting off to a slow start this morning. Was up in the middle of the night with a bad heartburn attack, so I slept until a very decadent 8! I'm normally up by 6 on weekends, so I feel behind on the day. Decided not to do much until it's time for my meeting at 10:30. Then I'll come home and do housework, try to go out for a hike, and spend time with my guy friend.

U75 - I hope your daughter is ok. Asthma must be scary.
Glad you are feeling better, MB. What a pain to have to go out for water. Especially when you aren't feeling well.

So grateful for this sober Saturday morning!

U75 I was sorry to read about your daughter sending hugs her way. As Gilmer says and from some people I have known the situation
does often improve with age

At the end of August I won a mature Stilton cheese in a raffle (an obscure prize I know) I have just finished the last of it. In one way I am pleased as it is no longer there tempting me and i will be laying off the cheese for a while, but it was superb, much better than those shrink wrapped lumps you buy in supermarkets.

All good things come to an end I suppose, even that bit at the end of Hey Jude

I have no idea what is that Silton cheese you gourmet-guys are talking about)

I've made myself a big pot of chicken stock and it smells delicious. So, I am all set with cold-fighting food for tomorrow.

Have a great day, everyone.
