Hey --

My quick lunch check-in. SUID, I'm sorry. I'm sure this is painful for you. It's hard to know what to say to someone who's used again after a significant amount of sobriety. One of the first things I learned on SR is that using/drinking is the culmination of a relapse, not the start of it. It's something I've kept close in mind.

A day with a Dizzee update is always a fun one, Sao. How is his lordship? (Boris, of course.) Congrats on landing the big sale.

OK, back to work. I've not been a beacon of productivity today.

Hi everyone- bim and sao- I called the city bylaw and they said to call the fire dept if the fire goes past 1 am- that's kinda late isn't it?!
It's ok because I stay up late.
I think the problem is also that they go to bed and don't put it out, so it just smokes all night ya know?
People are so frustrating sometimes.
There are several fire pits, but it's this one that are problems.

I feel bad because they're SUPER quiet- so they're trying.
I'll talk to people and ask them to please shut it down at 1 am and actually put the fires out.
I can handle that.

I also bought two huge fans for my room- so now there's 3 in there.

So tired today and had a bleeding nose, I'm thinking it was from the fires because i never get a bleeding nose.
Just a few more hours of work and then I can come home and get some rest.

Gonna catch up on the thread now

((((SU)))) all is not lost!
And I'm the same, I don't have any fun.

Bim- I feel a lot like what you wrote.

Ok now I feel better! I have my fans set up and it's good! It's nice and cool in there.
Phew- problem solved if they don't respect my 1 am shutdown request.

I even put the fans together myself

I was thinking the same thing hahaha
I was like " please don't let these things fly apart in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping!!

I once even put an entire BBQ together by myself! Took me all day; but I still did it!

Ok, back to work, please let this day end.

Xoxoxo

Washing bed linens. Lucy vomited, again.

She keeps us in fresh bedsheets.

Jen, glad you figured something out about the smoke situation. Sounds awfully frustrating.

Bored out of my mind in this Scrivener course online. The guy isn't particularly boring himself, nor is his accent, but ... wow, it's dull. And yet, it's interesting stuff I'm learning. Why? Lol.

I'm sorry about the fires and your nosebleed Jen! hope things get resolved quickly!

Godson is napping. So far we've gone swimming, watered plants on the porch (he has his own watering can so cute), watched Sesame Street, played in his tent, and eaten lunch which was mashed potatoes, a few fruit loops (I know) , and an apple. He's only been here a few hours and I'm pooped!

I've got a good tofu burger recipe I need to resurrect. Maybe we'll have that for dinner tonight. Or maybe just grilled cheese....so much simpler lol!

haha, I was just thinking of you Brynny...
Another installment of Brain's Tip Of The Day:
When you get that whole pork loin home stick it in the freezer for about an hour just to firm it up. Make sure it is straightened out. Then take it out, remove the vacuum sealed wrapper and with a sharp knife slice it to the thickness desired. Then bag and vacuum seal and freeze.
$14.91 for the meat, 11 packs of loin chops in the freezer. That comes to $1.36 a meal. One each for us.
And Brynn, if you cook em right, it feels like tofu in your mouth...
The sirloin was a hefty 2" thick so I slice em in half, trimmed all the fat from the ny strip steaks, portion the salmon and flounder. The 6.27 lbs of burger is up next but I needed a break.
Brynn I think said something about sympathy back pains for all the stone I had to move. No back pain at all, just the hamstrings ached from humping the wheelbarrow up the hill and humping big buckets of stone around and up...
I got more back pain from working at the counter trimming meat...
And, I don't have to buy meat for a long time. Deer season will be here by the time we run out... and fall trout will be back...

Jen, I forget the layout of your apartment, but if you have opposing windows or even a couple far enough away from each other, get yourself a small box fan/window fan and put in a window blowing OUT while having another window far away from it open. I clears out the air inside and helps cool the place down... it really works.

@LBrain. Chapeaux to you, sir, on your meat preservation meticulousness! We (i.e., my family of six) buy bulk meat from Costco as well. I divvy it up into meal-sized portions too, but it goes a lot faster for my hungry family so I rarely need to break out the vacuum sealer.

Thanks to you, I'm now thinking longingly of the beautiful meats I have at home that I can throw on the grill tonight. Yumyumyumyumyum.

We buy meat in bulk, too. I use freezer bags. The vacuum sealer sounds fun, though. Maybe I need another gadget.

What's wrong with the texture of tofu lol?

I really want to say something about Brain being achy from humping but I'll refrain due to forum decorum.

Surprisingly I don't get too grossed out looking at hunks of raw meat, it's raw hamburger that freaks me out GAG!

Jen, I don't understand the putting fans together thing. What kind of fans do you have to put together?

I was going to post a certain song but I can't find it anywhere! It's not on YouTube or anywhere online! There must be copyright problem or??? Crud.

SU...I'm relaxing on the couch and doing laundry. I'll be ready for him when he wakes up!

MEAT EATERS OF THE WORLD UNITE!

did I forget to mention the box of BRATS by any chance...
okay, off to pick some peppers to chop up to mix in 'some' of the burgers... and maybe a little asiago cheese too...

besides all the meat I consume, I consider myself to be a vegetarian as well... on some days

I consider myself an equal-opportunity consumer. No delicious food turned away! (Note: "delicious" is a highly subjective term.)

(Double Note: except when it comes to tofu. That is just objectively yucky no matter how you cook it.)

@brynn. My wife won't touch raw chicken in any form, but especially whole birds that still have the skin. She also doesn't like walking by Greek restaurants, where they have the rotisserie right in the window. She thinks it's horrifying to look at. Oddly enough, she's been know to fry up a can of SPAM once in a while.

Wow, random Friday thoughts are random.

Has SPAM ever been proven to be meat?
