Your Lucky Sober Weekender Thread Feb 13-15
Living a sober life has zero to do with being lucky. The same holds true... You are not unlucky because you are an alcoholic. So the negative in you can just let that thought go right now.
Friday the 13.... You can leave your hockey masks at home this weekend!
You are lucky because you are here on SR and around people that get it. That understand how relearning to live without a drink or drug can feel.... And then support you in living a full sober life.
So in effect we create our own luck in every resource we provide ourselves in sobriety. Bacon helps too but let's be real... the more resources we seek the more opportunity to find that right combination that works for you.
Welcome to your sober weekend! Woo Hoo!

I'm in! Still have a couple of days before the week starts for me, but let me go ahead and climb onboard now.
Oh and also -- bacon DOES help, but let's not forget that Chocolate does too

Yay Tetra! Good for you and good to see you here.
I just got out of an AA meeting. I'm going to a resale/thrift store now in search of a good pair of drapes for my dining room. I have one I really like but no match.
One man at my meeting made a good point even if you aren't AA. I can't coast in sobriety. When I coast its downhill. You can't coast uphill. I choose not to coast. I'm not that lucky I have to sometimes work at it.
I'm rolling out. Sitting in a vacant parking lot.

That is an interesting point Ruby and I agree with it for the most part. However, I do think it is possible to coast in sobriety since people do get lazy, which is when many people get into trouble. If you aren't paying attention to where you're going and coasting downhill, you can end up off the road and get seriously hurt very quickly.
Yep, I'm okay. Had plenty of ash all over the place for a couple days and I was a little freaked out because an eruption like that is fairly rare. We still have fairly low visibility. This picture below is overlooking a few houses, as you can see there is a fine grey dusting over everything.
Heading to the lake this weekend. Finishing up work today, heading to the market after work. Looking forward to a very chill evening.

Heart shaped doughnuts with pink icing being served in the canteen today, and I had to listen to one of the students wittering on about how "Jamie Dornan isn't gorgeous enough for the role of Christian Grey".
I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day myself, but I do like this quote:

well according to glimmer,"ha" doesn't cut it. You gotta call it.
So, SHOTGUN!
okay, spent morning out, saw a lot that reminded me of this place, the big book of hubbel photos at barnes n noble for 24.99 and a few other book the were mentioned here. The Shack etc...
also tried to return a cd I bought at BnN a couple days ago. The inside cirle broke when I pulled it from the container - it ain't a circle no more - BUT, even though it was busted when I bought it, federal law prohibits returning it for a refund, I can only exchange it for same, okay - they don't have it but will order it for me, great - add about 8 bucks to the price of CD for gas - 2 trips.
I also realized when I was looking for pattern paper to make a template - light bulb moment --- xmas wrapping paper in basement - free, same thing basically...
Saw a couple guys fly fishing while I was on a kayak recon mission. I need to get out soon. And there is a fly tying clinic once a week for a $25 materials fee. Something to do on a Tuesday starting in March.

Ring ring! Hoping aboard if I may! Woo hoo indeed! Great to see everyone here already.
Got strong cravings on arriving home from work today-currently trying to surf.
Oh, and went to my first ever yoga class this week. It was amazing, felt great afterwards, and slept like a big auld baby that night. I can highly recommend it!
Best wishes to you all!

Evening all ,
Been a bit jangley recently myself … a lot going on, moving , new job hunt .. I had a non-sleeping night last night ..
I found an interesting video on Chinese zen monks living in the mountains .. reminded me of the practice i've not been doing recently, tending and nourishing my mind by watching people with spiritual abundance rather than paucity .
So today has been a glorious day with a watershed reached , i'm less keyed up and can feel a spark of optimism to be tended .
