From what I can ascertain, tonight is fat tuesday. Snow is screwing up the festivities out here for Mardis Gras, so the weekend thread being open seems completely appropriate.

The weekend thread - Special Humpday Edition - Icemagedon 2015!

I am scheduled to work in the tax office this evening, but they were closed yesterday, so we'll see.

Starting to get light out, so I need to go see if Mrs Non's car is iced over again this morning.

Giddyup!

No day off from taxes. In fact the office manager asked if I can cover for one of the other tax pros whose kids are off school today. Going in early!

HaF, I'm glad you're feeling better. I like it when the thread creaks along surreptitiously. I think there has been a real need for it this week as many of us are coping with trying weather.

It's 8 degrees out and is to be colder tomorrow. -20 overnight. I'm grateful my heat is working and the heater in my car works well too. I'm grateful I just have cold and not mounds of ice and snow to deal with.

Busy day at work this morning. I'm thinking that I will make the chocolate banana bread again this weekend. It all got eaten.

Sounds good Ruby

Glad you're feeling better HappyAF

Thanks to the wonders of the interwebs I have heat. Just typed in my boiler make & model + troubleshooting and got various possibilities (turned out to be a stuck ball valve/safety shut off)
Saved a few bob as boiler 8-9 yrs old so no warranty.

Thanks Ruby and Saoutchic. I made it through the workday. Feeling much better but not terrific.
Ruby, the cold weather must be unbearable. I think I would have to distract myself with good movies or books and lots of comfort food. Anything in the crockpot would be great. And the chocolate banana bread sounds heavenly.
Saoutchic. .thank goodness you have heat. I've found the Internet to be wonderful for fixing things too. My garbage disposal was jammed and it walked me through fixing it. Saved a bunch by not having to call a repair person.
Ok...I guess I'll go read or something.
See you all tomorrow on the new weekend thread.

Breaking News From Portland Maine Just On The Tube...

The Snow Mountain built from Snow hauled away from City Streets is so massive, it's mucking with Avionic Instruments in Planes on approach to the Airport nearby. As reported, the Instruments think it's a Building, or some other 'Mass' to be avoided.

You got your Snow, and then you got your Snow, eh? Day_um!

"Tax Pros" is what corporate calls us. They even gave me a thousand business cards that say it. I thought it was a little pretentious when I first heard it, too. Now I guess I've heard it enough that I have become assimilated.

That was a long boring day. I did 3 returns in 12 hours. Yawn.

Half the bases in the region are on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, but not mine. I might actually have to go to my real job tomorrow.

Tomorrow we can make the leap to the new bus.
