New here and new at internet forums
SR has some very nice features, BrattenJ_57 (Do we have the same last name?). Most useful is a chat room you can access by clicking the 'chat room' link that is at the top right of the page header. There are twice weekly loosely-structured meetings which are gently and ably moderated. There is almost always someone there with an open ear, 24/7.
Secondly, you may also send private messages, or PMs, to members simply by clicking on their username. There may be a minimum post count first though.
I hope you settle in, and read read read, and participate in the forums. Some great stuff and very kind and generous members here. The moderators are pretty darn good too.

What are the days/hours for the on-line meetings you wrote about?
Same last name? I don't know; '57 is my birth year.
Chat room meeting details are found in Chat Meetings and Chat Discussions - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
Mine too. How's it going for you today, youngster?

Mornin' freshstart, and thanks for asking after me. I really need that now. I'm good. Amazing to wake up clean! Still a little on the anxious side, but my head was full of fresh insight (should have taken notes; the thoughts faded as I got busy into the day). Beast is stompin' around, wants to keep telling me that I may as well go ahead and drink, it's in my gene pool (Scots-Irish). I just moved into a new apartment two weeks ago, and this morning a neighbor stopped to chat in the hallway. Asked me if I drank (who knows why). I became quite grave, said, "Used to. But today, no, I will never drink or use again, nor will I change my mind." That's kind of my mantra today. How are you, and what's on your mind?
