Finally gave it up but life is $hit
All of this back and forth does not amount to anything if you have not come to the conclusion that you are an alcoholic.
Maybe you have come to this conclusion and I missed it but unless you have really come to that point then trying to decide what to do in your spare time, IMO, is moot.
Admitting I was an alcoholic was the first step, then I had to admit that I wanted to change and I need help to do it. For years I said I was an alcoholic but I did not do anything about it. I was not that bad, I did not drink that much, I had earned it, blah blah the fact was that I was willing to live with it, until I wasn't.
