I can only tell you what I would do MLC.
I would want a second opinion from my regular doctor if someone prescribed me oxy with my history.
I'm not you though - you're gonna have to weigh up everything that's been said here, and everything that's in your heart and head, and make a choice.
make it the best one for you

I am going to get it taken out, I'll be on a waiting list though .
Hi MLC -
Sounds like there is a lot of cost to taking the pill in terms of recovery, and cost in terms of pain if you opt not to take it.
Why not consult with your regular doctor to help you navigate what is going to be the best option for you? Who knows, there might be a different solution that wouldn't cost you so much.
You've come so far! You can do this!

I can relate to pain caused by lymphatic fluid buildup. had the lymph nodes under my left arm carved out 7 years ago and I sometimes overuse my arm. the fluid build up in my arm and the pressure can make my arm feel like a huge bruise.
you may want to look for a specialist in the lymphatic system( I thinik its an immunologist) to learn what can be done to get the lymphatic fluid flowing

Wow, my body and mind are falling apart all at once.
Thanks, I will keep that in mind if I can't get in for surgery quickly. They reckon it will all be better once the lump is out.
I understand you're in pain, but I can't believe they prescribed you an opiate after you told them about your addiction issues. Please take this medication exactly as prescribed.

This is not good. If I thought my av was strong before, it's nearly killing me now. I don't know how people can just take a little bit and be ok with that.
I am happy to be out of pain, really happy but I also feel frustrated.

You are an adult MLC and you are battling pain and that inner demon voice. You have worked hard for your sobriety. Give the pills to your husband to dispense so you do not over use. Call your Counselor and Doctor and get their advice. There is probably some medication that you can take that is non-addictive.
I don't think we should be over-riding medics here. They are the ones who can see MLC face-to-face, and they are the ones who have studied medicine. But I agree MLC should tell the docs everything, and then trust them. Sounds good advice from Living as well - get husband to issue as prescribed by the doc.
O love, how frightening for you.....
If a doctor prescribes you medication, it is in your best interest to listen to THE DOCTOR.....sure, ask questions. Be honest. Find out if there are any other medication choices here.
Hope you are feeling a little better, tons of love and support coming your way....

Thanks guys.
I did tell the nurse and student doctor everything. It was one of the first thjngs I said.
I completely understand where Mizzuno is coming from and I would probably even give the same advice....to someone else.
I am finding this pain so so bad. It's so hard to do everything I need with 5 young children with the pain.
I have had two (they said to start on a half and then take more if it didn't affect me too much, which I know it doesn't.). I am watching the clock and keep having to shut my av up when it tells me to save the 4 I am allowed tomorrow to take in one dose. Or to snort them.
I hate that my av just springs into action the moment my mind is even slightly altered. They are not even strong, they do provide great pain relief though.
