Getting quality sleep never gets old. Also, being able to eat like a normal person makes me happy. Alcohol wrecked my guts and really screwed up my eating and bathroom schedule. Not anymore.

Today I noticed that I sure do love going camping with my husband. We recently finally got smartphones with great cameras. Now, at a moment's notice, I can relive my camping adventures through the smartphone photos.

My yard looks amazing! Who knew yard work could be so therapeutic.
Instead of drinking I pull weeds, and plant stuff.

I have noticed how many hours there are in a day, and can plan anything at any given moment. I don't have to worry that I can't go do something or take my kids somewhere because I will be drinking and not able to drive them. I appreciate that quiet time every night where I climb into bed and read SR and strengthen my resolve not to drink ever again. Being present in every moment, not having to try to remember what I did the night before. These are just a few of the things I appreciate being sober. ❤️

I have noticed how much happier my doggies are. I was never mean to them but you know how a drunk can be grumpy.

I don't sweat while sitting inside, on the couch, with the AC on high. I used to sweat doing any and every thing.

I fall asleep much easier, and I don't get anxiety about going to bed at night.

While my bank account, waist line, etc. may not be where I want them to be, at least now there is finally hope in my life.

Whimsical things like fireflies make me giddy.

I can eat all the yummy stuff my mom makes.

I'm getting a lot of studying done and learning a lot.

I have conversations with coworkers and classmates.. about anything, our exes, stethoscopes, movies, house hunting, painting our toenails.. lol I enjoy talking with female acquaintances about all kinds of stuff.

None of the above interest me drunk or hungover!

I notice my dogs' and cats' well being more now that I'm sober, so I know if they're sick and can take them to the vet. And now that I'm no longer spending all my money on wine, I have the money to take them to the vet.

I really like listening to classical music. I think that I just have the patience to appreciate it more, with a clear, sober mind. Sober 6 months now!

I was walking through the airport this morning and my flight got delayed for an hour or so. Typically this would mean an immediate march to the bar and sitting there (by myself) with the bartender at 8 AM thinking it was funny or cool. Well I did go to the bar but had breakfast and a Diet Coke and watched two guys who were on their way miss their flight to Vegas when they realized there names were being paged it was too late. Just listening to them talk brought back "memories" of me and my friends.

Also, walking through the airport or anywhere and noticing how many people had a place to be and were totally sober and not looking for their next drink. Everyone seemed to have a look of purpose or focus.

Being able to get up two hours before I have to leave for work, which gives me time to enjoy a cup of coffee, walk my dog, and start my day calmly and clear-headed. After two and a half years sober it never gets old to wake up feeling rested and good!
